“You don’t have game.” I laugh as my pocket starts ringing.
Connor snorts.
“I have fucking game. Just between you three assholes, I’ve been like momma fucking bear keeping you all alive. I need a holiday,” Mack moans.
“Denied,” Connor says, and I chuckle.
Swiping the green answer button as I see the Mexican number, my heart thunders.
“Hola,” I say darkly, and the two men around me go quiet.
“Dex,” Javier pants. “It’s here. Big mother container, and I heard them inside when Juan opened it. There are young girls in there.”
Jesus.
If he’s even disgusted, it must be bad. But then again, he is a father. That has to mean something, even to a drug trafficker.
I guess.
How are they alive after all this time? I have no idea where they came from, but it’s been weeks. Have they had food or water? It’s not worth considering, but now we can act to help them.
I glance up at Connor.
He nods.
“Get the photo and send it to me, Javier. If you hear anything else, let me know. Otherwise, get the fuck out of there now.”
“And the money?” he asks.
“I’ll have it dropped to you in forty-eight hours,” I reply. “And, Javier...”
“Si?”
“Thank you,” I say genuinely.
If it wasn’t for him, we would never have found Isabelle. I hear a mumbled reply, and then he hangs up.
“What have we got?” Connor asks.
“Two hundred women and children at the Garcia Warehouse right now.”
Connor picks up the phone and dials. “Scott. We need your team mobilized and in Sinaloa in the next hour.”
Thank fuck.
I walk to the sofa and sit down, letting my head fall into my hands as Connor keeps talking. He has all the details.
My job is done.
I lift my head and Mack is watching me.
“You chose her,” he says. “Over those women.”
I feel myself start to get defensive, but he just shakes his head. “I know you, Decker.”
I nod.
He’s acknowledging what I’ve done. Despite Isabelle’s experience, which I will forever regret, wedidget her home. It’s too early to call it, but we’re one giant step closer to saving them all.
