“You get drugged with some ketamine, go on an adrenaline rush, then let me know if you want to fuck after that. I’ve been out since last night.” I wasn’t one hundred percent better just yet, but a lot better than last night after everything died down.

“Are you going to tell him?” Greg asked, sending everyone on the call and in the room into a still silence.

“About?” There was a lot to tell Nikolai about, so Greg needed to be more specific.

“Our dear old stepmother of course, and how much of a bitch she is, and what your plans are for her and the triad.” Greg specified.

Well, I had to now since they all heard it. Granted, I planned to tell them, eventually. “He’s my husband, of course I’m going to tell him. Just wanted to settle a little more before telling him. Not like it’s the best first conversation to have on day one or two of my marriage. Besides, I’m pretty sure he trusts her as much as I do, which is none. Also, I don’t know what to do now. Before this mess it was clear, clean up loose ends, stir a shit ton of trouble for her, watch it all burn around her, and tear it all down. Now though...”

“Hey, it’d be a great honeymoon present! Well, besides you in some nice red lace, or whatever his favorite color is. I mean, think about it, merging the triad to him would be the best thing probably. Not like he’s some tyrant from what I’ve seen and what my sources have told me, so it’d be better to just hand it over to him and let him expand rather than leaving it open for anyone’s grab. Last thing we need is another Lady Qing to stake her claim to a third of Nespin.” Hanna might seem like an airhead sometimes, but that’s the image she gives; she’s quite smart at the right times.

“That or I was thinking about going withBa’soriginal plan of succeeding his choice to head of the triad. We all know they’d run things right like howBawanted. Plus, they would want to keep the treaty and who knows, maybe form an alliance likeBawanted too.” I’d rather get rid of it all so I wouldn’t have any ties left to that part of my life, give everyone under the triad’s thumb some peace.

“Well, whatever you decide, you know we’ll always have your back.” Bao reminded me.

“Thanks, I know you guys will always have my back. Family forever. Either way, anything new?” Maybe some good news will help me forget the embarrassment I am suffering.

“Unfortunately, no. Still working the leads we got right now, and nada. Sorry sis.” Greg replied with a defeated sigh.

“We might have to force our hands more too. I think Lady Qing is starting to tie up loose ends on her side. If we aren’t fast enough then we’re not going to have anything.” Hanna sighed as well. “I overheard her men saying something about clearing out a warehouse in the next week or so, as in completely clear it and trash it to the ground.”

“Shit... Get a jump on that warehouse then and report back to me when you get something, anything. Keep me updated.” I gritted my teeth and growled softly out of anger.

“We will, you take care in the meantime too. Stay safe. And sis, if he lays a hand on you, I’ll let him have it. I don’t care if he’s head honcho, you’re still my little sister, and it’s my job to beat the shit out of anyone who lays a hand on you,” Greg said.

Laughing softly, I smiled to myself as I let my finger hover over the end button on the screen. “I appreciate the gesture Greg, but we all know that’s bullshit.” Nikolai could probably drop kick my half-brother a whole football field without breaking a sweat.

“Ha ha, well, I gotta go, shift is gonna start soon and the chief has been breathing down my neck aboutthatshooting. Love ya sis. Good luck and stay safe,” Greg said with a long sigh.

“Well, I’ll continue digging on my end. Good luck and stay safe ya’ll,” Bao said with a sigh.

“I got an idiot to beat up then I’ll look further into the warehouse business. Good luck and stay safe everyone.” Hanna sounded a little too excited with the first bit, but that was no surprise to me.

“Good luck. Stay safe.” I sighed softly before hanging up the call.
