My laughter rang for a few seconds as I watched the horror twist on Lev’s face. “Don’t worry, I’m on the receiving end of things.” I couldn’t help but laugh some more at Lev’s flushed face as he buried his face behind the open fridge door.

“You’re a horrible person.” He grumbled as he pulled out the leftover food I made last night.

“Oh, I know, you didn’t have to state the obvious.” I snickered with a devious smile.

Once I got some food in my system, I started to feel a little better, barely. I probably needed some more rest to feel completely like myself, but I would be more than fine right now for a quick phone call to everyone. Thankfully everyone was free.

“Hey, you’re on speakerphone, so behave. Lev’s here also.” I warned everyone once the three way call connected.

“Aww, so no talking about how you wanted to know ways to get Nikolai to fuck you harder?” Hanna snickered deviously. No doubt she had a matching smirk on the other end of the line.

“Did not need to hear that shit!” Lev complained with a groan.

“Hanna, I swear to god... Ugh, never mind, I’ll deal with you next time. Just, we have a big problem.” I was not in the mood to entertain Hanna’s antics right now, not with only half my brain working.

Unfortunately, the severity of my words didn’t fully sink into Hanna. “You meanyouhave a big problem, the big problem being Nikolai’s big—”

I didn’t even let Hanna finish that sentence. “I am being serious! Lady Qing has been trafficking humans at a bigger scale than we’ve known.” I snapped, a little more aggressive than I intended.

“Oh shit.” Hanna’s jovial tone took a serious turn.

“What do you mean?” Greg pressed.

Sighing heavily, I pinched the bridge of my nose before speaking. “Long story short, Nikolai and I found out about her restoring The Catacombs in secret. Apparently the place is fully functional again, and she’s been holding black market auction events every two weeks along with other events during the time the auction takes place. She’s been keeping her prisoners there and in Ivan’s warehouses and possibly others. All I know for now is that she’s working with Ivan Petrov, Lilian Wu, and Ramon Cortez.”

“Shit.” Hanna’s voice chimed in again.

“Yeah. Shit indeed. Separately, they’re just small-time gangs.” I started, groaning a bit when I felt my headache worsen out of nowhere.

“Together they’re going to be a bitch to take down. Fuck.” Greg sighed heavily on his end.

“Yeah, it’s going to be a bitch and a half.” I agreed with a sigh of my own.

“What do you need from us? What can we do to help?” Bao asked, bringing the issues to the forefront of my mind more.

Groaning, I took a moment to think before responding. “Get me the blueprints for The Catacombs, the most recent. Then, as much as I want to rush into the place, we have to bide our time to do surveillance, plant bugs, research, all the works. We also need to filter through all our men to make sure we don’t have any leaks or rats. I do not want either of them getting even the slightest whiff or inkling of an idea of what we’re up to. All this stays between us four and the Volkovs, is that clear?”

I waited to hear agreements from all three of them before continuing, “In the meanwhile, we have to get ahead of those shipments. Expand our net to the other players as well. I want to minimize the amount of victims as much as possible. Try to keep a distance though, send things to the police anonymously so that they can bust them. We need to keep their eyes off of us. No one will think twice about the police busting their operations.”

“It might even play to your favor too. If you heavily involve law enforcement like that then it might cause discord within the gangs as well. They might start doubting their own men.” Lev pointed out, reminding me of his presence next to me.

“Lev has a good point with that.” Hanna agreed, making Lev chuckle.

“I always have good points.” Lev bragged with a cocky smirk.

“Says the one who always charges in without much planning on assignments.” Hanna retorted with a scoff.

“Hey, I already told you, if it’s just a single target who’s a flight risk then it’s better to act first then ask questions later.” Lev replied with a scoff of his own.

Breathing in deeply, I rubbed my temples with my thumb and index finger before speaking, “Hey, you two can bicker over dinner some other time. Back to the point at hand. Like I said, keep as much distance as possible. Greg, Hanna, I’ll leave you two to vet our men. Nikolai has some traitors already, and I really want to make sure our men are tight before we let them in on anything because if Lady Qing or any of the other three get wind of any of this then it’s going to turn to shit real quick. Bao, get busy with that computer of yours.”

Slumping over the counter, I propped my elbows up and settled my head between my hands. With my head cradled in between my hands, I let out a groan of pain. The throbbing pain clawing at my head got worse by the second.

Fuck this headache is not going away!

“I’ll touch base with you all later tonight probably to talk more about this. I need to go right now.” My thoughts were getting muddled, and I would start getting snappier by the second.

The three of them bid farewell before hanging up on the call.
