I shook my head with a small sigh. “I… This morning was a lot.”

The smile slipped from his face. I knew he’d had his own therapy session this morning, and yesterday, we’d had a joint session with Flora, which had gone just like our other sessions with her. She asked us to tell her something about the other person and give her a rundown of the activities we’d done together. After that, she reminded us that we needed to continue to work together during our two daily activities. Although she hadn’t directly said it, it seemed as though she was satisfied with the progress we’d made together, and when I thought back to that first session we’d had with her, it was clear that we’d come a long way.

As Jordan leaned across the table, I felt his leg slide against mine in a deliberate movement. This was so unlike us that I stared at him in shock. Ever since the night we’d confessed our attraction, we’d been cautious around one another. There had been no more bed sharing. What wehadshared had been a lot of heated looks and a few stolen kisses. It had only been three days, but those days had felt as if they were never-ending. We were both holding back, restraining ourselves, and neither of us dared to push for more. I knew that what had happened between us had scared me, and I had no doubt it had scared Jordan, too. When we took the consequences of our actions into account, who wouldn’t be scared?

What happened on the island, stayed on the island…and that worked in theory, but in the cold light of day, we both knew that it wasn’t that simple. Getting involved with my teammate was unacceptable. It was impossible.

But Icravedhim, and the more time we spent together, the more I wanted him.

“Want to talk about it?” His voice was soft. “You know I won’t judge you. Not for this.”

“Maybe later.”

“Okay.” Accepting my words with an easy shrug, he flashed me another grin. “Want to sneak out after curfew one night this week? I overheard a couple of the staff mentioning the bioluminescent plankton.”

“The what?”

“Bioluminescent plankton.” His eyes shone as he described how the ocean would apparently glow blue when the tiny organisms were disturbed by movement. It sounded fantastical and unbelievable, but Jordan was so animated and enthusiastic I couldn’t even attempt to burst his bubble. When he finally finished speaking, he batted his lashes at me, his eyes wide, and fuck him for being so gorgeous that I’d agree to anything, even breaking the strict curfew we were under.

I hooked my ankle around his, satisfied when his cheeks flushed. “Do you know exactly when and where we can see it?”

Shaking his head, he speared another piece of chicken on his fork. “Nope, but I’ll find out.”

“I don’t know about this. You’d better not get us into trouble.”

His mouth fell open in the fakest expression of outrage I’d ever seen. “As if I would.”

“Of course not.”

“You like getting into trouble with me, though, don’t you?”

I raised a brow. That smirk he was directing at me was about to get him into trouble.Brat, I mouthed, and I was rewarded with a glare. So predictable.

“Say that to me outside, and you won’t like the consequences,” he hissed.

My gaze flicked to our almost empty dishes, and I made a decision.

“Outside, now.”

For once, he followed me without question. When we were outside, blanketed by the night, the air heavy with the scent of the sea and the tropical plant life around us, I pulled him off the path, into the shadows, and backed him up against a palm tree.

Pressing my body into his, I dipped my mouth to his ear. “You’re nothing but trouble, baby.”

He shivered against me, his arms winding around my shoulders. Nipping at my jaw, he tugged me closer. “You fucking love trouble.”

“Hmmm.” I trailed my lips down the side of his neck. “You’d better make it worth my while.”

“I always do.” He gripped my throat, forcing my head up. We shared the same oxygen, so close that his lips touched mine every time we exhaled. “Let’s not waste time pretending that you don’t want this as much as I do.”

We weren’t talking about sneaking out after curfew anymore.

I closed the final millimetres of distance between us and took his mouth in a hard, possessive kiss. “I fucking want this.”I want you.

He moaned, his cock rapidly hardening against mine. “Fuck. Theo.”

“We shouldn’t be doing this.” I kissed him again.

“I know. It’s just gonna fuck things up for us, isn’t it?”
