“You smell so fucking good,” he murmured against my throat. His words vibrated across my skin. Raising his head, he met my gaze, his voice turning hard. “What are you doing here in the dark? What were you doing with that dancer?”

THEO

There was one thing I’d been looking forward to when my birthday plans had been arranged, One thing that I wasn’t supposed to be looking forward to. One thing that I wasn’t supposed to want.

As soon as I’d seen Jordan, reclined in the booth with his dark, tousled hair and a heavy-lidded gaze and the tightest shirt known to man stretched over his muscles, in a deep sapphire colour that brought out the blue in his eyes, I was lost.

Every single one of my plans was forgotten as I followed him through the VIP section, raging with jealousy as I watched the gorgeous member of staff put his hands on what was mine.

The guy caught my glare, smirking before he disappeared into the shadows, leaving me alone with Jordan for the first time since the island.

Stepping right up to him, I met his gaze. His body was solid against mine, and I could feel his erection against my thigh. My own cock was pressing against my trousers, hard for him, but I had to ignore the effect he had on me. We were in public, and nothing could happen between us.

Even knowing the danger we were in, I found myself placing my hand on the wall, the beat of the music thrumming against my palm as I angled my head forwards and breathed him in. “You smell so fucking good.”

He shuddered against me, his chest rising and falling rapidly. Fuck. I wanted to taste him so badly, but I couldn’t. I lifted my head. “What are you doing here in the dark? What were you doing with that dancer?”

I winced at the bite in my tone. I had no right to question him like a jealous boyfriend.

Jordan’s lips curved into a wry smile. “Apparently, I was blatantly eye fucking you. JJ brought me over here before anyone could notice.”

My brows rose, and I tried to bite back my own smile, without success. “Is that so?”

“No need to sound so happy about it.” He scowled at me, and the need to kiss that scowl from his lips was like a physical ache.

Taking my hand off the wall, I stepped back, putting some much-needed distance between us before I did something we’d both regret. Rubbing my hand over my face, I shook my head. “I can’t think straight around you.”

He smirked. “Yeah, I know.”

I laughed, some of my tension easing. “Come on. Let’s get back to the others before they notice we’re missing.”

“Wait.” Curling his fingers around my bicep, he held me in place. “Happy birthday. I got you a present.”

He pressed something into my hands, and I glanced down. “What’s this?”

A shy, sweet smile curved over his lips. “It’s nothing, really. Just a key ring from the airport. I didn’t think…I didn’t know if anything more would be appropriate.”

I examined the key ring—a silver palm tree—and then slid it into my pocket. The fact he’d given me anything at all was completely unexpected, and even though it was a cheap trinket, I knew what it meant.

It was a reminder of our time together on the island.

Swallowing hard, I met his gaze again. “Thank you. How are you doing?”

He shrugged. “Okay. You? Are you sleeping any better?”

“Getting there.” I found myself leaning in again. I wanted to kiss him, to feel his lips on mine. I couldn’t even remember what it was like to not want him. How had we ever hated each other so much?

“Theo!”

We both spun around at the shout to our left, exchanging wide-eyed glances as we saw Reuben waving at us.

I turned towards the booth, but Jordan placed a hand on my arm. Dipping his head to my ear, he spoke softly.

“Look. I know it…it’s your birthday, and I have no right to say anything anyway. But if you’re gonna go home with someone tonight, please can you wait until I’ve left?”

What? Go home with someone? “I’m staying in a hotel.”
