“I’ll keep an eye on her,” I said, meeting Hannah’s gaze. “Whatever it takes to get the story, right?”

She let out a squeak, and I chuckled.

This was going to be fun.

Chapter 3

Hannah

I stared at the clothes laid out on the bed—nothing I had lookedbiker partyappropriate. In fact, most of my clothing looked a lot more like something you’d wear to church.

“I can’t believe you got yourself into such a fucking mess,” Vinny said on the phone, his voice filling the hotel room. “Itoldyou to go straight to Rosie.”

“Yeah, but you failed to give me instructions about how to avoid confrontation with someone en route to Rosie.”

Vinny’s deep cackle erupted over the line. “Oh, Hannah. I knew this was gonna be a fun one for you. It’s all fine. I paid the bail for Bear. It’s not like it’s the first time he’s ever been cuffed and stuffed before. It’s just another night for him.”

“Okay, so what’s the proper etiquette for this party?” I asked, reaching for a pair of high-cut light wash shorts. “And what the hell do I wear?”

“Well, for starters, there isnoetiquette for a biker party—except to respect the club members. You’re coming in as an associate of mine, so I know that you’ll be respected by most. But that being said, you still need to keep your head on straight. Don’t go opening up and asking a bunch of questions unless they offer it up. I’d go for the older members, too.”

“Like the one I got thrown in jail?” I grimaced before grabbing a white crop top with some sort of abstract red and blue splashes on it. It wasn’t the most edgy thing in the world—but it would show my midriff...

And that was edgy, right?

“Bear will definitely talk to you, and I’d go for Harry and Throttle, too.”

“I’ll keep those names in mind.”

“And as far as what to wear,” Vinny continued, letting out a sigh. “Just don’t dress like a slutty snack, and you should be good. Also, don’t dress like you usually do, either. I thought that would be fine at the bar, but I didn’t realize that you were going to go getting yourself into a mess.”

“Yeah, why didn’t you just write the piece?” I groaned, my shoulders slumping. “Because this just seems like you threw me into a raging fire.”

“Well, Icouldhave written the piece, but I’ve been around the club my whole life. I wanted a fresh perspective from a different generation. I’m from the old timey club era. I wantyouto write it.”

I let out a heavy sigh. “Is a crop top too risqué? Paired with my shorts, it would only show like four inches of my midriff.”

“Jesus, Hannah. You’re fine, just go to the party and talk. You’re charismatic and charming. Just don’t sleep with any of them.”

“Yeah, you don’t have to worry about that,” I said quickly, though my mind flashed to those potent green eyes of the vice president—what was his name?

Ugh.

Regardless of his name, he washot. But I also knew enough from the internet to know better than to act onanyof that attraction. He was as off-limits as they came. I don’t do criminals.

“Hannah, I mean it,” Vinny reiterated into the phone. “If you go getting involved with any of them on a personal level, you’ll get sucked in, and while I understand the lure of the rough around the edges, tough, biker guy thing—they’re nothing but trouble.”

“Got it,” I said, grabbing the clothes up off the bed along with the phone. “But I need to get ready so I can be on time.”

Vinny grunted. “Don’t be on time.”

“How late then?”

“A solid half hour.”

“Got it.” I hung up the phone, letting out a sigh and tossing the phone onto the bed.

Here we go.
