“Mmm,” he began, reaching for a cigar in an open box on his desk. Charlie picked it up and lit it. Inhaling deeply, he blew out a white puff of smoke. “I can see that you’re really holding back on me, so I’m going to go ahead and tell you why I brought you here.”

I rubbed the back of my neck, my nerves feeling more fried with every fucking word that came out of this man’s mouth. “Okay...”

“Well, for starters, when you reached out about the drop, I wasveryconfused.”

I furrowed my brow. “And why is that?”

“Because your men showed up at the drop thirty minutes early, took care of business, and then left.”

“Wait... Who was there?”

Charlie hesitated, taking another long draw on the cigar. “Your president and a man that I didn’t recognize. He didn’t have your patch on, but I thought that might have something to do with being discreet.”

My jaw dropped. “SoTippywas the one who picked up the drop?”

“Yeah, he was there.”

“He told me I fucked it up—and it gotmissed.”

“Mmm,” Charlie grunted. “I think you might have a problem going on in your chapter, Ronny.”

I didn’t even know what to say, shaking my head in disbelief. “Do you think he was going to fuck up the second drop due this next week?”

“Oh, I think he was going to off you before it got to that,” Charlie answered me, his words flat and devoid of emotion. “And that’s why I’ve been trying to hunt you down and tell you, before you end up buried right next to your dad and brother. I promised your dad I would look out for you, and that’s what I did from a distance for quite some time—but you need to handle this shit in your club, Ronny.”

“I didn’t even know there was a hit on my back until a few days ago.” My voice was strained, not sure I should be offended by his words or just purely irritated.

“I get that, and after what happened in the meet-up spot, I figured it was time to tell you before someone else gets to you first—and you better get him sorted. I only let Tippy in here because wemightstand a chance at keeping him under control.”

Hannah.

Hannah is with him.

I jumped up from my seat, my heart going still. “I have to go.”

“Was waiting for that,” Charlie smirked, shooing me toward the door. “Go handle your shit, son. Come find me when it’s settled.”

I didn’t respond, already ripping the heavy wooden doors open. The bad feeling I had before we left suddenly all made sense, and it felt like a fucking ton of bricks slamming down on my shoulders as I raced down the stairs. There were way more guests than there were initially, and I scanned the crowd, desperate to spot Hannah.

Gunner.

Gunner is with her.

“I take it the chat went well,” Meredith called to me as my boots thudded across the marble floors, hoping that any woman with blonde hair wasmywoman.

But none of them were.

I ignored the amused look on Meredith’s face. She had always been the weirdest woman I had ever met—some strange mix of old Hollywood and...something.

“One of them went outside.” Her voice barely made it to me as I headed in the opposite direction of where she had been standing.

One of them?

The two security guards opened the door for me as I headed out into the sea of cars. I poured over the row of cars, the three motorcycles still parked where they were...

And there was Gunner—on the phone.

“Where thehellis Hannah?” I roared, sprinting toward him. “Tip is the one with the hit on me!”
