“I told you so.” Riley had a smirk on his face when Jasper glanced up with a sneer. “I had to say it once, you know I did.” He hung his head back down. “Look, this is a good thing. The mother of your child is meant to be yours, your forever. This is right, this is fate. It’s everything.” Riley moved to the bar cart, pouring himself a drink. “You won’t have to worry about her running away or having to fight for custody. Problem solved.” He saluted Jasper with his whiskey, a silent toast.
Jasper banged his skull against the wall a few times before nodding slowly. “Except Callie knows nothing about our world. She doesn’t know she’s now mated, without her permission, to a shifter. She doesn’t know she’s carrying a mini one inside her. We agreed to co-parent as friends, and now, she’s my entire fucking universe.”
“Well, maybe we should have Keller come over? He accidentally claimed Molly, right? And they’re okay.” Riley moved over to the couch, sitting beside a scowling Jace.
“No. No more company,” Jace ordered. “This house is closed.”
“Yeah, bro, and the last thing I want to do is bring all the coaches into this shitstorm.” Jasper knew if he really did want Keller’s involvement, his twin would swallow his irritation and get him over here. Middle of the night or not.
“Riley’s right. Notabout inviting every fucking pack member to this house for no reason, but about Keller and Molly.” Jace held his hand out, asking Riley for his half full tumbler. He threw it down his throat before continuing. “Keller freaked when he mated Molly.”
“Oh,he freaked big time.I was there.” Riley chuckled at the memory. “He and Dom were taking shots and getting wasted at like six o’clock in the morning.”
“But he spazzed for no reason. Molly was fine, eventually, because she was made for him.” Jace met his gaze from his sad spot on the floor. “The same thing with Corey. She didn’t overreact when Dom shifted in front of her because she was made for this life, fated to be mated to a shifter.”
“Blake too.” Riley shrugged. “She took it all in stride.”
“None of them were pregnant at nineteen.” Jasper finally got to his feet. “Callie is already going through so fucking much. She’s stressed about everything. She’s nervous to tell her parents about the baby. And now it’s not justhey I’m a shifter and so is our kid. It’s,hey I’m a shifter, and so is our kid oh and btdub when we fucked the other night I accidentally claimed you as mine and now you hold my life in your innocent little hands.”
“Holy fuck, Iknewit.” Blake clapped her hands and did a silly happy dance. “I knew she was yours. For freaking shifters, you guys have terrible gut instincts.”
“Jesus H. Christ.” Jasper sighed. “When the hell did you sneak down here?”
She shrugged, vaulting over the back of the couch and settling against Riley’s side. “I got bored, so I came down here to get a snack and see what Axie was doing but this issooooomuch better.” She rubbed her hands together. “Tell me everything.”
“Wait, not yet. Wait for me.” Axie came into the room, perching on Jace’s lap with yet another giant bowl of popcorn in her hands. She shoved some in her mouth, then passed it to Blake, talking around it. “Okay, I’m ready.”
“I hate you both.” Jasper collapsed on the loveseat opposite the two couples.
“Liar.” Axie rolled her eyes. “You love us. Now tell us the whole story. Don’tleave out any of the juicy details.”
“You’ve both been claimed before, you know how it goes.” He rested his head back, staring at the ceiling. “I banged her.I figured a condom was unnecessary. My wolf showed pretty quick, I tried to stop him, he told me to fuck the hell off and then right before I busted a nut, I pinned her down and made her look at me. She seemed into it, she screamed real fucking loud, so there’s that. But then my whole world blurred and my heart was racing. I knew it was happening,but there was nothing I could do to stop it.”
“Where is she now? You left her up there to come have bro time?” Blake glanced behind her, like maybe he’d stashed her somewhere close by. “That’s rude.”
He pickeduphis head, stressed, but still himself. He smirked. “I worked her over real fucking good. She passed out pretty quick.”
Blake snorted. “It’s not your dick that knocked her out. Don’tflatter yourself. She’s fucking pregnant and working full days with Maddi.”
“Oh yeah? My dick knocked your—”
“Nope.” Riley threw a handful of popcorn at him. “You promised you wouldn’t talk about the cabin’til January. Keep your damn mouth shut.”
Blake sent him a snotty smile. “Besides, it tooktwodicks to knock me out that night.” Axie reached over and high-fived her, Jace pulled his mate’s hand back, scolding her with a shake of his head.
“Forshit’ssake, doll, can you not?” Riley tickled her ribs, making her squirm in his lap.
She giggled through her words. “I figured I need to get a couple hits in now, because I can promise you, those jokes about the cabin are going to come to a screeching halt.” Her gaze moved across the room, training on him. “Or do you want sweet innocent Callahan to know that you double-teamed your best friend’s girlfriend, who you live with?”
“Ooooooo,good point.”
Riley ignored Axie. “You’re mymate. Not my girlfriend.” He frowned. “I thought we at least agreed to sayfiancée.”
Jasper swallowed past a new lump in his throat. “Holy shit, you’re right. She has no clue about any of the shit Riley and I used to do. Or the fact my dick has been in your—”
“No.” Riley raised his voice, cuttingoffJasperfrom saying another word.“That’s enough. It’s late as hell, your frantic bitch-ass text literally pulled me out of my girl, andI’mnot going to sit down here and listen to your shit.”
“Are you going to tell her?” Axie shoveled another handful of popcorn into her mouth, completely ignoring Riley’s irritation. “About what a whore you were?”
