I sighed and rubbed my eyes. I’ll order room service after I call my parents, I decided. Just get through this call, and then you can have lunch.
I dialed my mom’s number, and she answered immediately.
“Sweetie?” She said in a panicked voice.
“Hi mom.”
“Oh, Addy, where are you? I’ve been worried sick about you.”
“I’m on my honeymoon.” I repeated, ready to tell the whole thing all over again.
“Your honeymoon? Hold on, let me get your father.”
I traced the pattern on the pillow while I waited once more.
“Okay sweetie, I’ve got your dad on the phone, too.”
“Hi Dad.”
“Hi honey, we were so worried. Are you alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“What happened Addison? Jack said you just left.”
I bet he did. I rolled my eyes. “Did he tell you why?”
“Well, no.”
“He cheated on me.”
“Are you sure?” My mom inquired.
“Yes mom, I’m sure. I found Jack and Courtney screwing in my car after the ceremony.”
“That fucking dipshit–” My dad started before he was cut off by my mom.
“Rick!” She scolded.
“I’m going to fucking kill that kid.” My dad growled.
“Oh sweetie, I’m so sorry.” My mom chimed. “I can’t believe Courtney would do that to you.”
“I can’t believe Jack would do that to me.” I responded. “It’s alright, it’s probably for the best, anyway.”
“Are you doing alright? Are you eating?” My mom asked, concerned.
“Yeah, actually, I’m just about to order lunch. I’m really enjoying Hawaii. Hey listen, I’m gonna go, my food is almost ready. I love you both, and I’m sorry I waited so long to call. I’ll call you soon and we can talk more.” I could feel myself imploding, and I had to get off the phone quickly before I did.
“I’m just glad you're alright sweetie. Alright, we’ll talk more about this another time. Love you, sweetie. Call us if you need anything at all.”
“Love you, sweetie.” My dad threw in.
“Love you both. Talk soon. Bye.”
I hung up the phone feeling nauseous about the whole thing and shoved my head into the pillow in my lap and screamed.
Fucking stupid Jack.
