Fun times would be had.

And then when he finally showed his face, I could be mad.

CHAPTERFOUR

KILLIAN

My phone dinged in my pocket. I pulled it out to see my brother’s name pop up.

CONOR

She’s at the estate with Tee. She’s safe but she’s pissed. You owe me, bro.

Killian

Thank you. I’ll be back tonight.

I put my phone on silent and left it in the car as I took my backup, Liam and Tommy, into the house to meet with a contact who could help me reach out to the fucker who was trying to fuck up my business. I was close now.

I could end this before it turned into anything and then I could have Lorcan appreciate the fuck out of me instead of turn into Dad and tell me I should have had it handled before it even came to Ireland.

The fucker had never been happy which is why I think Lorcan was never happy. He had the world on his shoulders. Lately, though, he’d been different. I wondered if a woman had breached the stony exterior of his and melted whatever was holding his heart hostage.

Liam and Tommy opened the door and I entered through it, with them at my back. My contact, Shannon, was sitting at the table, his own men behind him. His gun was trained on me under the table from his position.

This would be hostile, after all.

“Shannon.”

“Sit down, Killian.”

Shannon had once been in Lorcan’s employ until he’d tried to rape some of the women he was supposed to be protecting. Lorcan hadn’t been too happy, and had ordered a hit on him, but he was protected by someone now. Someone who called off the hit somehow.

It was all starting to bug me that this low life was still around and that he had contacts that could hurt our business at home.

“I heard you lost an important enemy,” Shannon said as I sat down.

“And that would be?”

“Ronan, of course.”

“Ronan is an idiot,” I shot out quickly. “He’s a marked man, Shannon. I wouldn’t be building alliances with him.”

“I was a marked man once, too.”

“Am I here to talk about the past or am I here to talk about your contact?” I asked him, trying to get some control over the conversation.

I was desperate to get back home, and to Sloane. Leaving her in bed this morning had been the hardest thing I’d had to do for a while. Not only had I only had a few hours sleep thanks to both of us needing carnal pleasure over and over again, but I wanted to repeat it.

What was happening to me?

I never wanted to repeat it with a woman.

And I damn well never wanted to think about a woman when I was conducting business like I was supposed to be doing now.

“My contact wants to do a deal.”

“I’ll speak with him directly.”
