“No go,” Shannon said with a smirk. I was about to wipe it off his face if he didn’t give it up. “My contact will only speak with me.”

“No deal.”

I got up to leave when Shannon’s men turned their guns on me. Liam and Tommy pulled their weapons and trained them on his men.

“Whoa,” Shannon stood up, putting his gun down on the table. “Let’s not get out of control here. I’m trying to help you, Killian.”

“No, Shannon, you’re trying to help yourself. You think this contact can save you? You may have momentarily had power, but you won’t have it forever. We will find out who is doing this and we will prevail. Like we always do.”

Shannon made a move to grab his gun just as I pulled mine from my holster and shot him in between the eyes. His men could barely believe it before Liam and Tommy took them out before they got a shot off.

“Shit.”

“Grab his phone,” Tommy told Liam. We took their phones and tossed the house to make it look like a robbery. Exiting out of the house, I got into the car with Liam and Tommy.

“He mentioned Ronan,” Tommy said.

“Yes,” I replied. “That fucker has his finger in this.”

“We haven’t been able to find him for months. Can we ask his brother?”

“I will,” I told them. “He doesn’t know everything but he does know some things. Maybe we need to pick up the trace on Ronan again before we lose him and he gets more of an army to take us over.”

I nodded and took off, back toward our city. My mind was racing. If Ronan was behind all of this, it would make sense, but how could he gather that much power in such a short amount of time? It was impossible.

Or was it?

Surely there was a way to find out.

“What is this?”Teeghan asked as I moved the portrait and showed her the secret passageway I had used when Killian and I were hiding from his father after he had snuck me in late one night.

“It’s a place we could hide so we could be together.”

“Wait…you and Killian fucked in here?”

“No,” I rolled my eyes even though she couldn’t see it. “We made out a bit, but never got carnal.”

“So you know this estate better than me?”

“I know where Killian showed me. I wasn’t here all that much and I usually only saw his bedroom.”

“It’s still so crazy to think of you and him together.”

“Tell me about it.”

“What was he like back then?”

“Strangely enough, exactly as he is now. Killian hasn’t changed much, maybe he’s just a little more intense.”

“I can’t imagine that. He’s always so sure of himself…unless he’s trying to get rid of me because he thinks I’m trying to hurt his little brother. Now that was plain scary.”

“Scary Killian is why I broke up with him,” I told her, putting my empty glass down on the tray. “I couldn’t be with someone who could easily kill a bunch of men then come home to me. I mean, where did that end and the real Killian start?”

Teeghan poured another drink but I put my hand over my glass. “I’m beat, I’ll have Walt show me to my room.”

Teeghan hugged me tightly and let me leave without complaint. She wouldn’t be able to resist calling Conor down to the room to have her way with him soon. I knew what she was like with alcohol in her system.
