I’d rather continue our scene from the elevator than talk, anyway.

Finally, after a long moment of silence, he blinks. “Wow.”

KENNETH

Holy fuck. I’ve never seen so much pink in my life.

If Bailey’s outfit and car weren’t girly enough, the entirety of the penthouse is pink. Walls, carpet, furniture, even the ceiling is painted a bubbly shade of pink. It looks like a kid went crazy designing this place, turning it into the ultimate princess paradise, throwing glitter and sequins sporadically into the mix.

It’s the most bizarre thing I’ve seen in my life.

It looks like something out of a movie, almost like it shouldn’t exist in real life. Yet, here it is, an explosion of every shade of pink imaginable, staring me in the face like a traffic accident, and all I can do is stare.

“This is…” I say, my voice trailing off. I don’t even know what this is, but thankfully, Bailey finishes the thought for me.

“A lot?” she asks with a coy smile. “I’ve been told.”

“It’s interesting,” I offer.

Between her mouth-watering cupcake scent still lingering around us, making my head swim, and the absolute assault of glitter and pink, this feels like a fever dream.

“The entire penthouse is pink?”

She nods. “Bedroom, bathrooms, kitchen. Some things were imported. Others, I had to get creative with and paint myself.”

It shouldn’t surprise me, even though it does. Omegas often surround themselves with things they like, fill their nests with things that make them happy. Bailey’s house has to be the most elaborate nest I’ve ever seen or heard about in my life.

“Were you going to tell me you’re an omega?” I ask abruptly, the thought striking me before I register the words falling from my mouth. She looks so fuckable in that dress–it’s nearly all I can think about now that we’re somewhere private, but I keep a steel leash on my desire.

I have questions I need answered.

Feelings I need addressed.

I expect a quick answer, but she looks just as surprised as I am.

“Were you going to save it as a surprise?” I ask, curious about how long she was planning to hide the truth from me. I’m just shocked I didn’t realize it sooner.

Normally, I can differentiate betas and omegas on aura and personality alone, but Bailey has completely stumped me from the moment I laid eyes on her. She’s been surprise after surprise, but none were as big as this one.

“I’m not.” She shakes her head adamantly. “At least, I wasn’t before tonight. I’ve never heard of anyone awakening this late. It’s been seven years.Seven,Ken.Can this even happen?”

I stare at her, my thoughts churning. “Obviously, it can. I’m honestly surprised you didn’t know.” I gesture to the room around us with a sweep of my hand. “You’ve made yourself a giant pink nest.”

She stands there for a long moment, watching me silently.

“I just thought I liked the color,” she says, her voice soft.

Something tugs in my chest, and I fight the urge to pull her into my arms, to comfort her the way an alpha comforts their omega.

Try as I might to deny it, she ismyomega. I know from the way her scent calls to me, reaching into my soul and fusing itself to my DNA, a fated, unexplainable bond I’ve only ever heard about.

A scent match.

Neither of us may understand what’s happening, but it’s clearly unavoidable. I found her by chance, hardly expecting it to go anywhere serious, but now she’s mine, and I don’t plan to leave her alone.

Not now, not ever.
