Tugging the beanie tighter over my curled hair, I brushed some wrinkles out of the green, plaid dress I’d picked for today. A little fancier, a little more in tune with a fancy Christmas Festival date. And at some point, I needed to find a way to convince Weston to swing by my parents’ house to grab his gift without letting on that the trip was, in fact, for his present.

Spinning in one more slow circle, I paused as a tall figure pushed through a group of people. He wasn't wearing his usual cowboy hat, and he had on the ugliest, absolutely best Christmas sweater I’d ever seen.

My hand gently brushed against my lips and I giggled as his blue eyes found mine and lit up. That crooked grin spread across his face as he saw me.

Throwing all caution to the wind, I ran toward him and flung my arms around his neck. We were dating, and even if we hadn’t had an official first date work out yet, I wanted to show him I didn’t care that they were constantly being ruined. That no matter how frustrated he was with it all, I could see his efforts, and that’s all that mattered.

He stiffened, shocked for only half a second before his shoulders relaxed and he buried his face in my neck. Strong, thick arms wrapped around my torso and one hand brushed against my back, pressing me deeper into his embrace. I squeezed him a little tighter. Threading my fingers into the base of his curly hair, I flattened my palm and just let him hold me.

I didn’t want it to end as light music danced around us, the chatter fading away. He exhaled softly against my neck, tingles caressing my skin.

Slowly, he pulled away, though didn’t entirely remove his hands from my figure. Silently, his eyes searched mine, seeking something. I raised my brows, falling into his ocean gaze and a slightly wicked look spread across his face. A hungry, desired-filled look. He let go of me, immediately grabbing my hand and suddenly dragged me forward.

I followed without hesitation, wondering where he was taking me, and what was going through his head. We weaved through throngs of people, around a corner, and then slipped behind the stalls they’d turned into the reindeer barn.

His hands grabbed my hips low, and he pushed my back against the wall. My heart jumped, my stomach flipping over as I realized what he was planning. Throwing my hands around his neck,I smiled as his lips finally slammed against mine.

It had taken too long, and I could feel it in his kiss.

Desperate and hungry, I was happy he’d stopped waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment and finally created one. Everything in me swam with a warm buzz. Flames danced across the coals in my belly that he’d ignited. The feel of his touch opened a craving I hadn’t realized I was missing, and my heart pounded heavily, matching the beat of his own. His tongue trailed along the edge of mylips, and I opened my mouth, allowing entrance. Fast and passionate.

Tipping onto my toes, I leaned harder against his body as he stepped between my legs. My skin rippled with tiny pricks of excited adrenaline. The thoughts in my head slowly drifted away, leaving me with nothing but the taste of his tongue with mine and the feel of his calloused hands.

He slid them down my sides and hooked the backs of my thighs, hoisting me off of the ground. Tucking one arm beneath my body to support me, his palm pressed against the barn beside my head, desperately tasting every part of my mouth that he could. Caught up in the heat that was whirling between us, I wrapped my legs tighter around his waist, sliding my fingers through his hair.

Never before had I been kissed like this. Never before had I wanted itto not stop. Goosebumps danced against my skin, the zap of passion between us sucking away the world. It was only him and me.

Again and again, his mouth moved with mine, his tongue fighting with my own, tasting sweet like honey and sugar cookies.

My body was on fire, heart pounding wildly in my chest. My back arched as his fingers tightened against my legs. I grabbed his forearm, desperately seeking more of him.

He pulled away to quickly catch his breath, his chest rising fast and hard, but I didn’t let him take any time at all as I slammed my lips back against his. The gentle flame tickling in my belly roared to life. More. I wanted more, and I tipped my head back. Wet, velvet lips wandered away from my mouth, leaving a hot trail in its wake. He flicked his tongue out, sliding it across my collarbone.

My hips balked into his when suddenly Weston jerked away from me, and he crashed against the ground with a groan.

Falling, I slammed against his chest, our kiss broken. An odd sounding squeal pierced the air to my right, and Weston held me steady as we glanced toward the strange noise.

My mouth dropped open.

A pig with little elf shoes squealed again.

A pig had run between Weston’s legs and pulled us to the ground.

With elf shoes.

A group of people came crashing around the same corner it had come running from. They were oblivious to me straddling Weston on the ground as they chased after the hog. He managed to roll us out of the way just as they thundered by, cocooning me between his body and the wall.

It was a pig. A squealing pig dressed up with jingle bells on its hooves had literally swept Weston’s legs out from under him.

And I laughed.

Full on laughed as he groaned again and rolled flat on his back.

“That’s a first,” he grumbled, and I wheezed even harder.

Weston squeezed his eyes shut tightly, though a subtle smile played at the edges of his lips.

“At least it wasn’t your nephew falling off of some hay this time,” I teased, and he sat himself up.
