He nodded, grinning. “Welcome to the family, son.” Frank extended a hand, and I grasped it, shaking firmly.

Luke found me next, as Tenley was surrounded by all the women, including Pearl, gushing and giggling over her ring. Believe it or not, Cassidy was the one who helped me pick the final thing. That boy was constantly surprising me lately. I heard Tenley thank Pearl for doing her hair earlier as a shadow fell in front of me.

Glancing away from the gossiping women, I watched Luke cross his arms and stare me squarely in the eyes.

“If you so much as hurt a strand of hair on that girl's head,” he paused, as I looked down at him.

A grin slid across his face. “Who am I kidding!” He laughed and gave me a hug, clapping his hand on my back once before disappearing again.

Cassidy threw his arm around Luke and gave him a noogie. “You realize what you’re getting thrown in to with your sister marrying this big oaf, right?” he said to Luke who looked so appalled by the action.

I leaned my head back and laughed. “Welcome to the family, Luke,” I said, and his eyes widened as Cassidy let go of him.

“Maddie’s husband doesn’t act like this,” he grumbled, and Cassidy grinned.

“Does he have any brothers?” Cassidy, asked and Luke shook his head no, fixing his hair.

“Well, that would be why. You just gained three, and we can be a pretty rowdy bunch.” Cassidy wiggled his brows.

“You mean, youcan be,” I emphasized, and my brother merely grinned. Though he wasn’t wrong, I mean, I drove a four-wheeler into a moose for him once.

I looked around the room, filled with love and joy. No matter how long it took, no matter what happened between now and when we did get married, I knew that it was going to be amazing and filled with a lot of craziness. Because we were simply us.

She was the one person in the world who could brighten my day and give me the biggest headache of my life. At the same time. She was the person who reminded me that things don’t have to go to plan for them to be worth it.

And as she leaned down to kiss her dad on the forehead, I felt myself blink back some tears.

The life that we were about to build together was going to be the biggest, most imperfect adventure yet.

And I couldn’t be more excited.

The End
