The main building was a majestic castle-like structure made of pale stone with intricate masonry and detailed carvings around its edges. A large terrace dominated the entrance, embellished with white marble pillars and accented with vibrant flowers. The sun illuminated the terrace, making it look like a paradise with its bright colors and lush greenery.

The staff members were dressed in formal attire, adding to the sophistication of the place. Some greeted us warmly, while others were busy attending to other guests. I held Rebecca's hand as we entered the lobby.

A placard advertising the charity wine gala sat in the corner of the lobby, along with plenty of seating and large windows to let in plenty of sunlight.

We reached the front desk.

"Rebecca Cavanaugh and Sebastian Steele checking in."

The woman smiled. "Welcome to the Palais des Reves. I'm so happy you came a day early to enjoy all we have to offer. The event is spectacular, but many attendees like to take advantage of the resort as well."

"That's what we plan to do," Rebecca said.

"Our staff has already taken your luggage up to your room, and Jean will be showing you to your room."

We turned, and a jovial man in his fifties wearing a blue suit stood behind us. "Allow me to take you to the Emerald Suite."

We followed him as he led us down a long hallway to an elevator, and once we exited the elevator, we walked to the end of the hall. He unlocked the door with a keycard and stepped aside, letting Rebecca enter first.

The rich interior of the room was warmly lit by a wall of windows that led to a private balcony. The one-bedroom suite had a dining space and living room. Warm scents of jasmine and rosemary filled the air. A large bouquet of roses sat on the coffee table.

"Wow." Rebecca's hand covered her mouth. "This suite is amazing."

"I'm glad you like it," I said. I was hoping to impress her.

"I'll leave you two to enjoy your stay. Please contact us if you need anything. Have a wonderful day," Jean said.

Rebecca and I thanked him before he closed the door.

Rebecca walked over to the flowers and took a whiff. "You didn't have to do this."

"I know, but I wanted to." I stepped behind her and wrapped my arm around her waist, inhaling the vanilla scent of her shampoo. I kissed her temple. Our proximity caused a jolt of desire to rush through me. We were here. We were finally alone.

“What do you say we check out the bedroom?” I asked.

She turned around and captured my lips in hers. When we pulled apart, she was grinning, “I like the way you think,” she purred, brushing her hand across my chest.

Our luggage sat at the foot of a massive king-sized bed, complete with a canopy. The rest of the room was decorated with tapestries that depicted the native flora and fauna of Napa Valley.

“The bed’s huge,” Rebecca noted, eyes widening.

“It sure is.” I stepped closer to her, tilting her chin up with my hand. I could feel her breath across my upper lip. My pulse quickened, and I felt myself harden.

“It’s our first real night together,” I said. “No distractions.”

She nodded and swallowed, studying the ottoman at the foot of the bed.

“Are you nervous?” I asked.

She nodded again and sat down on the bed. I sat down next to her. I brushed her hair away and kissed her neck.

“I’ll be gentle, I promise. We’ll go slow.”

Finally, Rebecca relaxed beneath my touch. She turned to face me, and our lips collided. My sheer desire for her overpowered me. It made my entire body ache. The sparks between us were palpable. I was surprised that they didn’t fly off into the room. I wanted Rebecca, and I could sense that she wanted me, too. I’d never had so much chemistry with someone. I deepened the kiss, and she looped her arms around my neck before pulling away.

“It’s much too early to spend all night in bed,” she said coyly. She was playing with me, I was putty in her hands, and she knew it.

“Honey, it’s never too early for the bedroom,” I teased, kissing her knuckles. She blushed.
