“Uh-huh. She’s the nanny for that cute boy who’s in kindergarten.”

Grace chokes on a laugh. “That’s me. Have you seen Bradley at school?”

“Yep,” Sydney chirps. “He pushes me on the swings at recess and makes me origami balloons.”

“How romantic,” the expert on the subject breathes.

“He wants to get married, but my daddy told me to keep my options open.”

“Solid advice,” I commend.

Jake and Harper arrive at the next moment. Their lazy pace proves they’re not at all surprised by their daughter’s burst of energy. The bubbly blonde waves while the grumpy mechanic appears to be barely tolerating this outing. His scowl could rival Ridge’s on the worst day.

That prompts me to give him shit. “Come here often, Evans?”

If possible, his expression becomes more sour. “Very funny.”

“We like farm fresh produce,” Harper explains. “Plus, it’s nice to spend quality time together.”

He makes a noncommittal noise. “Can do that in our backyard.”

“Did you get married?” Sydney points from me to Grace. “Is Garrett the husband you’ve been searching for?”

My girlfriend hangs her head. “Not this again.”

I chuckle. “We’re dating. Does that count?”

The little girl wrinkles her nose. She edges closer to Grace and whispers, “If you need me to show him the light, just give me a thumbs-up. Mom says I’m really good at that. Whatever it means.”

Harper sputters, which morphs into an awkward laugh. “And on that note, we better get moving along before Jake’s tolerance for people expires.”

He grunts. “Only here for you and Syd.”

She pats his chest. “That’s why we love you.”

Sydney must see an opportunity sprout from thin air. She clasps onto her dad’s thigh and gazes at him with devotion. “Can I have a pony?”

The grouch almost cracks a smile. “If you find one for twenty bucks or less.”

Her gasp is immediately followed by a yank on his arm. “Let’s go!”

“That’s our cue,” Harper says. “Tootles.”

“Buh-bye,” we respond in unison.

“Jinx,” I tease as we resume browsing.

“Adorable. Have I mentioned that you’re really good with children?”

“Don’t get any ideas, soulmate. I’m not getting you pregnant. We can practice all you want, though.”

Grace rolls her eyes. “Are you ever not thinking about sex?”

“When you’re nearby? It’s a constant livestream of porn up here.” I tap my temple.

“You’re something else.”

“I’m yours.” A particular stand catches my attention. “Ah, what do we have here?”
