Shifting in my seat, I stare straight ahead, and I think about Cyrus. I haven’t had any updates on him, and I make a mental note to visit with Duke and Bond. I want to know when that motherfucker breathes his last goddamn breath. I want to go to the fucking funeral.

“I’m glad you approve,” I state as he backs into a driveway.

I’m not surprised that this place is not only on the outskirts of town, but in a completely deserted area. And it’s not so much a house as it is a shed. Seems like a place you would come and buy a large amount of weed or maybe even meth, but we’re here for the weed.

Agony jumps out of the truck and walks toward the large metal door. I watch as he lifts his hand, balling it up into a fist before he bangs on it. Climbing out of the truck, I follow him and watch as the door slowly begins to roll open.

A man walks out, squinting as he looks up at the sky, then shifts his attention back to us. “You bring a friend?” he asks Agony.

There is a moment of silence, then Agony looks behind his shoulder at me, his eyes finding mine as he smirks. He shifts his attention back to this guy. “Yeah, this is one of my brothers,” he explains. “I knew we’d need to load the shit up, and I thought it would be easier with another man.”

“Fair enough,” the man announces, then turns his back and walks toward the metal building.

Agony begins to move, too, and in turn, I follow, but I don’t go all of the way inside of the metal shop. I choose to stay right at the entrance, so I can keep my attention on both the outside and the inside.

Watching the stranger move around, I can’t help but feel a sense of familiarity about him. I know I’ve never met him before, I don’t know his name or anything about him, but I know him.

The minutes tick by, then a couple of hours. I help them load shit up, feeling a sense of somewhat safety around this man and the area that surrounds us. The three of us shoot the shit as we load. When we’re almost finished, I start to ask him what his name is when my phone rings. I dig it out of my pocket, look down at the screen, and frown.

It’s Legacy.

Sliding my thumb across the screen, I lift it to my ear. “Brother,” I grunt.

“You got company,” he announces.

“Company?”

He growls, and I know there is something he doesn’t like about this company, but I can’t imagine who it could be. Instead of asking him, I wait for him to give me an answer.

“Goes by the name of Tempt. Get your ass here, now,” he demands.

“Fuck,” I hiss.

Ending the call, I turn to Agony, who is watching me, wearing an expression of confusion. Focusing my attention on him, I jerk my chin toward the truck.

“I have to go to the clubhouse,” I state.

Agony’s brows snap together, then he clears his throat. He shakes hands with the weed guy, handing him an envelope before he gives him a wave and turns his back to him. I watch for a moment until the roll door is lowered, then I climb into the truck beside Agony.

“That was Reese’s brother. She doesn’t know that this went down. I would appreciate it if you kept it quiet.”

“Seems we both got some secrets today,” I chuckle.

Without another word, Agony drives straight toward the clubhouse, and I try finding Piper. Sending her a text, I wait for her to answer, but she doesn’t. What the fuck could Tempt want, and why the fuck is she here?

Nothing good can come from this. Not in the goddamn slightest.

PIPER

When my cellphone rings, I’m surprised to see the number flash on the screen. Picking it up, I slide my finger across the screen, then bring the device to my ear.

“Hello?” I ask.

I know I sound leery, but this woman doesn’t even look to me, let alone call me. I don’t know what is happening, but it feels uncomfortable in this moment.

“This isn’t my place. Like at all,” she begins. “But I think you need to come down to the clubhouse. Can you get here soon?”

“What’s happening?” I ask.
