Unable to move.

Unable to think or even breathe.

He shifts forward one step, then pauses. “What the fuck is going on with your stomach?” he practically shouts.

Shit.

AGONY

“She’s going to be pissed off,” I bark.

Legacy laughs as Henli and Piper work to get the master bedroom and bathroom ready. They’ve already bought a whole fucking houseful of groceries, and now they are here with bedding and brand-new towels. I gave them carte blanche to do whatever the fuck they wanted, telling them I would pay for it all.

They take my words to heart, which makes me laugh. It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m glad they’re so excited to have Reese back. The only person who doesn’t know is Kiplyn. I’m waiting to tell her until Reese and I have our shit figured out and whatever this situation is with her ex is situated, too.

We have a hell of a lot to talk about, and since she’s on fucking lockdown here for the foreseeable future, we’re going to have plenty of time.

Here.

The house the club bought to use as a rental, but not just any rental. In a situation like this, such as a brother getting an old lady and needing a place to live other than the clubhouse until they find their place.

Basically, what happened was Legacy was getting tired of having old ladies and sweet butts in the clubhouse together. I can’t blame him. That shit should always be separate, and we’ve been a haven for harboring lost souls lately.

Although I don’t know if it counts if those lost souls become old ladies, it’s not my place. Citizen wives, old ladies, sweet butts, we’ve always lived in a way where they have been separated, and lately, those lines have been beyond blurred.

“She’ll probably be freaked out more than anything,” Legacy mutters.

He’s absolutely right, but I’m nervous as fuck about this. All of this feels like my last chance, the last-ditch effort to make this work. To bring her home, and not only me but Kiplyn is depending on me, too.

“And pissed,” I say with a chuckle.

“And pissed,” Itch mutters.

When the girls are finished, they give me a hug and wish me good luck. Legacy and Itch shake my hand and do the same, then they’re gone. Turning out all the lights, I stand at the window in the living room and stare out at the dark backyard.

My life is about to change again. I’m not going to let her slip out in the middle of the night for a third time.

Never a-fuckin-gain.

Casa Grande is her home. We are her family. We are her goddamn people.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I take it out, sliding my thumb across the screen before I hold it to my ear. “Logan,” I murmur.

“She’s on her way. She’ll be there in about thirty minutes. You all good, still up to the task?” he asks.

“Not a task. It’s my life.”

“Goddamn, you are gone for her.” He chuckles.

“Completely,” I agree.

“Touch base when she arrives and you find out what the fuck sent her running again, yeah?”

“Will do.” Ending the call, I shove the phone into my pocket and wait.

Just as Logan said, thirty minutes later, she walks through the door. I resist the urge to spin around, take her in my arms, and fuck her against the wall. Instead, I wait for her to come inside, lock the door, and set her bag on the floor. Her footsteps draw closer to me before she stops.

Slowly, I turn around to face her. “Reese,” I murmur as my eyes focus on hers for a moment before raking down her entire body.
