Lolly Morris, Blacksmith’s final victim, was a fighter. She fought her way out of the house where Chet was keeping her captive and was discovered by Madeline Martin and Steve Blacksmith as she made her escape barefoot in the snow. She told us that Chet was wearing a wedding ring and called himself Steve the night he took her out after her shift. She thought he was a nice guy, sweet and considerate, lonely in his marriage. We know now that he wore his brother’s wedding ring, which Steve had removed as his marriage was coming to a painful end. Chet thought it would make him seem less threatening.

Now, Lolly Morris is recovering at home with her family. She, too, is a key witness in the upcoming Chet Blacksmith murder trial.

Please stay tuned for an upcoming appendix to this season where we will detail the outcome of Chet Blacksmith’s trial, set to begin just weeks before Christmas nearly a year after his capture, and keep you updated on the key players as they move on in their lives.

The book of this podcast will be in stores in the New Year. I remind you to support your independent bookstores. Signed copies will be available at The Next Chapter Bookshop.
