“Oh, Medra,” I heard my sister murmur. “You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in this or any world.”

The light in her eyes faded. She was gone.

In my arms, Kaye stirred but did not waken.

I felt something in me start to blaze and burn. Grief and fury filled my throat.

Merlin. Orcades. Kaye. Javer. Medra.

And at the heart of it all...

“To this I will make a reply, though it may mean my death,” I said very clearly.

My voice rang out through the inner sanctum just as the sound of marching boots filled the hall outside.

My other brother had arrived.

CHAPTER 40 - MORGAN

Arthur entered theroom and froze as he took in the scene before him.

His wife, dead on the floor.

His high priest, decapitated.

A strange, winged man lying lifeless beside the grail.

Me, with a very-much-alive Kaye in my arms.

My mate had already risen to his feet. Medra cradled in one strong arm, his sword drawn in the other.

Arthur’s eyes moved to the baby Draven held.
