“Put some clothes on,” Nolan snaps. I know it’s an order and not a suggestion.

“Gladly,” I grumble. But when I reach for my ruined pants, Ishara snaps her fingers.

That usually means she’s telling me not to do something.

She jumps out of the bed, leaving me no choice but to watch how her silky nightdress clings to her body.

She’s slimmer than her sister but has no less curves. And I appreciate every. Single. One.

After a moment of rummaging in her dresser drawer, she produces a potion and another one of her nightdresses. She rips the latter in half, then pours the potion onto both pieces.

It transforms into a suit much finer than the one I was wearing.

“Well,” I say with a chuckle, “you could have conjured me something to wear this whole time?”

She merely smirks and shrugs her delicate shoulders.

Wicked little witch.

I love it.

Grinning, I slip into the clothes and am about to say something to break the ice when a cold sensation slips over me.

Then my heart… beats.

Tha-thump.

Tha-thump.

Gasping on a pained breath, I clutch my chest and fall to one knee.

Queen Fallon is the first to respond. “Daithi’s here,” she growls.

I can’t see his spirit, but I canfeelit.

“Fuck!” I snarl as knives seem to slice through my chest. “Get him out!”

Ishara grabs her sister and drags her to me. They must be talking telepathically, because Queen Fallon’s eyes widen. “You’re sure?” the queen asks out loud.

Ishara nods emphatically.

Nolan grabs his mate’s wrist when she reaches for me. “You said his skin is deadly.”

“Trust me, Nolan,” she says, and he must, because he lets her go.

Then the queen places a hand on me and my entire world explodes.

Chapter10

Zyran

“Put your glasses on, Zy,” my brother tells me without looking up from his book.

Sighing, I withdraw the specialty shades from my vest pocket and perch them on my nose.

My sunglasses protect others from my power, but I tire of them. While it’s not uncommon for a vampire to wear sunglasses against the sun, I’m not old enough for the sun to bother me.

Very few know that I wear sunglasses for their benefit, not mine.
