Page 73 of Taste Me

She’s been very touchy with Jasper, but I catch how she looks at me.

Her bond with my brother is secure, but fate must be pushing her to complete the one she has with me. It burns in my chest, urging me to push my brother out of the way if he’s not going to participate equally.

Because Ishara Doyle belongs to both of us. Just because he found her first doesn’t change the fact that I’m just as much her mate as he is.

And I’m the pretty one, if I’m being honest.

To prove a point—or stir the pot—I loop my hand around Ishara’s waist as I guide her to the town house.

“What do you think?” I ask, ignoring the fact that she’s still awkwardly holding on to Jasper’s hand.

It’s not exactly modest from the outside. A gardener tends to vibrant vines that wrap around the exterior, and roses of all colors flood the front flowerbeds.

There’s a water fountain and a statue of a naked woman with long hair. It reminds me of the death goddess and I like to think that if I talk to her, my mother can hear me.

Ishara seems mostly interested in the flowers, though. “Do you grow all these?”

I slip my fingers lower on her hip. “No, I have a guy for that. But if you like this, you’re going to love the roof. That’s one I tend to personally.” Her eyes light up for the first time when she looks at me.

“I’d love to see that.”

Jasper is practically growling, likely pissed off that I’ve not only discovered one of her tastes but also share it.

So, Ishara Doyle likes gardens. Good to know.

Maybe it’s because I’m inundated with death, but gardening is one of my hobbies, too. Being surrounded by life is a refreshing change after the things I have to deal with day-to-day.

Taking out my keys, I unlock the door and gesture for them to go inside.

“Please, after you.”

Ishara passes the threshold before I remember I spelled the entrance.

She doubles over and squeezes Jasper’s hand. “Oh,” she breathes right before the scent of her arousal hits me like a truck.

Jasper’s nostrils flare as he glowers at me. “What the fuck did you just do?”

Chapter20

Issy

Jasper curses before rushing to my side. I’m about to protest when I realize he’s securing my arm before my knees give out.

When they do, he’s there to catch me.

Jasper makes a sound from behind me that lets me know he’s not amused by any of this.

Because they’re vampires, I know they can pick up what’s going on with me.

My arousal was already bad before, but now it’s spiked for some reason and my lady parts are on fire and screaming at me.

“Over here, baby,” Zyran says, lifting my chin with his finger. “I didn’t mean to do that to you. It must have been active since my last—since last time.”

I look up at him but only see my panicked expression in his glasses.

Does he never take those things off?

I have an absurd urge to rip them away so I can see what his eyes look like. They must be beautiful, if only to match the rest of him.
