He didn’t give her time to object as he spun her around and tied the scarf around her eyes.

She struggled against him. “What are you doing?”

Clutching her shoulders, he pressed against her back, his voice a heated whisper in her ear. “Do you trust us?”

She practically melted in his arms, a trill racing up her spine. “Of course.”

“Then surrender to me,” he breathed.

Her knees turned to jelly as he finished blinding her and swept her into his arms. She held her breath when she felt him jump on top of the balcony and then jump down, a strong wind whipping around them until she heard his feet crunching grass.

Her nostrils flared as she scented her other mates crowding around them followed by the scents of lilac and rose. They were taking her to the garden and toward the sound of trickling water.

She leaned against Helius when he set her down.

“You ready?” he whispered, his hand gripping her side.

She eagerly nodded.

She didn’t know what to expect when he removed the scarf from her eyes. What she wasn’t expecting was a fountain statue carved in Jezebeth’s likeness. She had a fierce expression with water (representing magic) streaming from her fingers—a perfect tribute to her mother with an inscription on the bottom:Thank you for your sacrifice.

It took all her willpower not to burst into tears. “It’s absolutely perfect. Thank you.” She thanked Damon when he handed her a tissue. “I didn’t know we were exchanging wedding gifts.” She dabbed the corners of her eyes.

Drakkon led her to a nearby bench and sat beside her. “We don’t expect anything from you.”

“But—”

“You ran headfirst into hell to save our souls.” Cadmus knelt in front of her, leaning against her legs.

“You gaveeverythingto save us,” Damon said as he knelt beside Cadmus. “A thousand statues couldn’t express how grateful we are for you.”

We love you, Phoenix,Helius’s thought echoed in her head.

She blinked at them through a sheen of tears. “Make love to me.”

Waggling his brows, Helius held a hand down to her. “We thought you’d never ask.”

The air expelled from her lungs when he pulled her into his arms. “Not in front of my mother’s statue,” she pleaded.

“Where?” he asked, his protector voice taking over while his clawed fingers dug into her thighs.

“Anywhere else,” she begged, cupping his cheek. “Please.”

She licked her lips in anticipation when he went straight for the tall hedges. The maze. His aunt had had it built especially for the wedding, which was why it was taped off. Nobody was allowed to use it until after they said their vows. Phoenix had a feeling certain guests would be deliberately getting lost in there and returning with disheveled hair and clothes. It was only fair she and her mates broke it in first.

PHOENIX LAUGHED WHILEher mates chased her through the maze. She played dirty, blinding them with her shadows. They swore and grappled the air, their eyes glowing red with frustration.

Cadmus found her first, relying on his superior sense of smell. She bit his neck and clawed at his back, but he tackled her to the ground.

“Don’t fight me, goddess,” he hissed, his claws digging into her breast. “Or I won’t do that thing with my tongue.”

She went as boneless as a gutted fish, retracting her shadows as he tore away her clothes. Her breasts pebbled in the cool night air, and a chill twisted around her spine when he lavished her neck and breasts with kisses while prying open her thighs.

He snapped at his brothers when they reached for her. “I found her first.”

They growled, fur sprouting on their faces, but they didn’t challenge him.
