"We'll both look," I compromise. "We already know mine's negative, so you grab mine, and I'll grab yours."

"Deal."

We walk to the toilet, each taking a pregnancy test without looking at the results. Then, we take a step back and face each other.

"You ready?" I grin, hoping she gets the positive news she wants. If I had to bet money on it, I'm like ninety-nine percent sure she already has the newest Valentine growing inside of her.

Holly nods once, her knuckles white, clutching my test in her hand.

"Okay, look!"

We both glance downwards.

It's positive.

I can feel the grin growing across my face as I glance at Holly's stomach. She's pregnant. I'm going to be an aunt! Suddenly emotional, my throat gets tight, and tears collect in my eyes. I smile at Holly, who's staring down at the pregnancy test in her hands with a weird look on her face.

"You're knocked up!" I scream, throwing my hands around her, swaying from side to side.

Holly just stands there, not saying a word. She must be in shock.

"Did you hear me, Holly? You're going to be a mama!"

Holly pulls back and looks at me, wonder in her eyes.

"So are you," she smiles, holding up my pregnancy test.

I recoil back in surprise, grabbing the test from her hands, heart pounding. I look from test to test, one in each hand. They're both positive.

They're both positive.

I look back at Holly agog, unable to breathe.

"I don't think you caught a cold, Avery," Holly laughs. "You caught a baby!"

I'm pregnant. Holy shit.

That thought clogs my brain and stops the oxygen and blood from reaching where it needs to go. Before I can even draw another overwhelmed breath, I blackout and hit the floor.

Practice was brutal.

The team is gearing up for another deep playoff run, and Coach McCall bag skated us because we lost our last game against Boston. There was a lot of sloppy play in our own end, and Coach made us pay today at practice by basically forcing us skate suicides until we puked.

I glance at my watch.

Em and Holly are at home today because of the flu. Poor Em has been sick all week, and Holly has been taking care of her while Luke and I are busy with hockey.

"Can we stop on the way home?" I ask Luke. We've got into the habit of carpooling together. Sometimes the Deckers cram into Luke's SUV, but today they stayed behind at the rink. I swear half the team lives in our building. Though, I must admit it is a prime location, close to the rink and downtown. "I want to pick Em up some soup. She's still sick."

"Sure. I'll grab Holly some flowers. I want to butter her up and get her into baby-making mode," Luke jokes, waggling his eyebrows. I laugh. Luke and Holly have finally decided to multiply. I think Luke wanted to wait until he was closer to retirement so he could enjoy the kids growing up, and Holly is too busy to be a stay-at-home mom.

When we get home, I don't find Em in our apartment, so I walk across the hall. It's super convenient living next door to Luke and Holly. Luke and I fully understand the concept of a "happy wife, happy life." Holly and Em are like sisters. I don't think they would be happy if they weren't living close to one another. It's part of the reason why I extended my contract with the Northmen.

When my deal with the Northmen expired, I was offered a massive contract to go south to Arizona for six years. When I discussed it with Em and the possibility of her opening a branch of SASS in the US, I knew her heart wasn't in it. Luke and I both plan on retiring with Toronto, but we're not quite there yet.
