“Say it again.”

Sloane took a small breath. “This is not my fault.”

“Good girl,” I told her again, running my palm down her spine. “Thank you. Let’s go see who’s here, okay?”

“Okay.”

Before we did, the others held her. And every one of us that touched her, I watched her get lighter.

Taking her hand, I led her into the formal living room, where both Addison and Claire waited. The room now smelled like bubblegum because of the Beta flitting around the space looking at all the decorations.

“Sloane!” She pounced, stealing my Omega from me and wrapping her in a hug. “Congratulations. I was going to schedule lunch, but when Jace called me again, this was even better.”

Sloane smiled, but it was hesitant. She looked at Claire and then at me. “It’s great to see you guys, and I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but what are you doing here?”

“I thought they might keep it to themselves,” Addison said with a laugh. “I’m here to help design your bedroom before your things arrive.”

“Really?”

“Really,” I said.

Her face crumpled and she threw herself at me, arms curling around my neck. Claire and Addison looked at us in concern, but I held out one hand. She was okay. “Thank you.”

“I don’t want you holding back this time,” I said. “Whatever you want. And I have spies.”

My Omega laughed. The sound was pure ecstasy. I wanted it injected straight into my veins. “Fine. IguessI’ll go wild.”

“Make sure you do.”

She brushed tears off her face and turned to her friends. “I guess I’ll show you guys around?”

“Sounds good to me.” Addison grabbed her tablet and Claire gave Sloane a hug.

“You okay?”

“Not really, but I’ll explain.”

She looked at us, and Roman was the one who spoke. “Go ahead, firefly.”

All of us waited until they disappeared into the kitchen and we heard the elevator doors close to speak. “Anyone else feel like they need to go to the gym and run a marathon?”

“If by marathon you mean ‘find and kill a fucker,’ then yes,” Jace said, rage coloring his tone.

I pulled out my phone and immediately emailed the recording of Craig to Harrison. He’d given us his card when he met us in the lobby of Starling Tower. “Yes, that is what I mean. But that’s not an option, sadly.”

Jace turned to Ash. “You never said. Was he there when you drove by last night?”

“No. It was clear, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t there. Nothing all day and he happens to show up the minute she’s there? He was watching.”

I grit my teeth. “We should assume he knows where we live.”

Roman growled. “If he tries to hurt her here, Iwillkill him.”

“Let’s try to avoid that. Not because I have any love for him, but I think we’d all rather you not be in jail,” I said.

“We need a restraining order,” Jace said.

I tacked on a reply to the email, asking Harrison if he could take care of that, asking what we needed for it, and if the recording and text messages would be enough. “Yes.”
