“Why?”

I reached up and brushed a stray hair back that was escaping from where it was gathered in a low bun. “I’ve been alone for a long time,” I told him. “I’m still getting used to anyone even wanting me, let alone wanting a statue of my naked body.”

“Who wouldn’t want you?”

Gratefulness washed through me for the bond we now had, because I didn’t have to speak for him to feel my pleasure at the thought, and I didn’t have to explain anything else.

Lifting my arm away from him, he pressed his mouth to his bite. Need raced through me like he’d set fire to a fuse lining every limb. “Fuck me, that’s something else I’ll have to get used to.”

“Another way to wake you up.”

“Yes, please.”

We’d neared the edge of the dance floor, and when a waiter passed within reach, I snagged another glass of champagne and drank it. Considering I hadn’t eaten anything more than finger food, it was probably a bad idea, but I did it anyway.

“You want some?”

Roman shook his head. “Not tonight. You’re my drink.”

I giggled, the drink building on the ones already in my system as Roman set me down and took away the glass. “Where are you going?”

“Nowhere,” he said, turning me. Gabriel stood there with his hand out. “May I have this dance?”

“Yes.”

Gabe spun me under his arm before pulling me to his chest. “Hello, little one.”

“Hi.”

“Was it everything you imagined?”

There weren’t words to answer him, so I let him feel them instead. I hadn’t had any true expectations for something like this, because I’d given up on it. So being with them, in a place so beautiful, in a dress pulled from my dreams?

I was happier than I ever imagined I could be. Even with everything else outside of this that seemed like it was teetering, this wasperfect.

Twirling me to the center of the dance floor, he grinned. “I’m glad.”

“Will you let me get you a ring?”

“If you want me to, little one. But I might already have rings in the works for the rest of us.”

“Really?”

“Mhmm.” Gabe’s hum transformed into a rumbling purr. “They’re taking a bit longer than the time we had for this.”

“Makes sense.”

His scent wrapped around me, gorgeous, sensual vanilla and the deeper, richer scent of the tobacco. “I need your suits,” I said.

“Our suits?”

The champagne was hitting a little harder now. “Yeah. All of them. Need them in the nest.”

Gabriel froze before he smiled. “Okay, little one. You can have my suit.”

“Good.”

“If you’re thinking about your nest, are you all right? Do you want to leave?”
