The smoothie slowly disappeared. When was the last time I ate? Maybe this morning? Was it still the same day?

My eyes closed, and I continued to rest on Gabriel. I was so tired. I’d been tired before the heat and this wasn’t going to make it better. I wanted them, and I knew before long I’d be begging. But at the same time…

“Gabriel?”

“Yes, little one?” His purr strengthened.

“When my heat is over can I have a few days off? I just— I need to sleep.”

I caught the barely there hitch in his purr and the way his fingers tightened where they held me. “Of course, Sloane. Everyone in the company is going to take some time. I’m making sure of it.”

“Thank you,” I sighed the words.

“I’m going to fucking kill him,” Gabriel muttered.

We all knew who he was talking about, but I didn’t want to think about him now. “I don’t want him in the nest with us.”

“You got it, sweetheart.” Asher’s voice came from across the nest. I didn’t turn to see him. This was so comfortable.

“What time is it?”

Gabriel chuckled. “I’m honestly not sure. You’ve been out for a couple of hours.”

I gave the empty cup to Jace, where he waited with an outstretched hand. “That was good.”

“Gotta keep your strength up,” he said with a wink.

Another sigh fell out of me, and I reached up to trace the lines of one of Gabe’s tattoos near my eyes. Afleur-de-lisrendered in dark blue ink that seemed to pop up from his skin. “I’m happy I’m here with you,” I whispered. “I just wish we’d had more time, so it doesn’t feel like I’m forcing you into something when you barely know me.”

“Is that what you think?” Gabriel asked quietly.

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “It just happened at the wrong time because I forgot the suppressant. We could have been ready. Not inconvenienced you and everyone else.”

It was the exhaustion talking, I knew that. But I still didn’t want them to feel forced, no matter what.

Gabriel peeled the blanket away from me. His face was hard. Not from anger—this was something else entirely. What I’d seen flashes of in his office and the unguarded moment in his bedroom this morning.

The second—thesecond—he touched my bare skin, everything flared to life again. Pure fire raced through my veins and lit me up like a neon sign. Wetness crept down my thighs from being so fucking close to this Alpha who hadn’t fucked me yet. I needed him to fuck me.

I whined, gasping for air because somehow all of it had disappeared. “Alpha.”

Gabriel hauled me up higher, putting his mouth to my ear. “Let’s see if we can clear up a few things, shall we?”

“Wh—”

“Present,” he commanded, and I scrambled to obey. I practically fell off his lap, putting myself on my knees and stretching my arms in front of me with my ass in the air. Everything exposed, the small breeze of his movement on my wet pussy making me shiver.

One hand stroked down my spine to my ass like he was admiring everything available to him. My Omega preened. I smiled into the cushions, loving the attention and craving so much more. No more worry and no more concern. I was in heat and I needed a knot. My Alphas would give me one.

Why had I thought anything else?

Gabriel fit the head of his cock against me, and grabbed my hips, sinking into me with a groan that matched mine. He didn’t stop there, spreading his body over me until we were lined up limb for limb, his fingers gripping mine and holding my arms down. Nearly pressed flat on the floor of the nest, everything washim.

“Alpha—”

“Quiet, Omega.” One hand released me to grab my hair and turn my head so my cheek pressed against the velvet. His lips now at my ear, he rocked his hips and held me where he wanted me.

The command made me shudder and whimper, unsure if I should beg, fight, or submit.
