Roman sketched for another moment before he reached for his phone and set it down right in front of me. A book with a fiery purple cover and a beautiful woman.Conquered. “Fantasy,” he said. “Interesting magic, romance. All of it.”

“That sounds fun.”

“It is.”

Him listening to the book made sense. I was glad he found a way to make it easier. “Can I see?”

Roman didn’t fight me when I tugged on the sketchbook. It was me. The way I was lying right now, swathed in his hoodie. My hair fanned out over the bed, eyes closed, lips slightly parted. I looked ethereal and magical, though I was only sleeping. “This is beautiful.”

He reached out and grabbed my hand.

Whatever he said, Roman didn’t need words to communicate. His eyes spoke everything he needed to say. And right now they saidyou’re beautiful.

We got caught in each other’s gaze, only interrupted by a knock on the door. Ash pushed it open, and a loud trill broke the moment. “Sorry,” he said, holding up my phone. “For you.”

He gave me the phone, and I winced. My grandmother’s name. Shit. She was probably worried sick. I answered the call and put it on speaker. “Hi, Grandma.”

“Well, it’s about time you answered,” she said with a laugh. “I know you’ve been in a haze of hormones and dick, but I’m still your grandmother.”

“Oh my god.” I took it off speaker. “You can’t justsaythings like that.”

Ash and Roman were silently dying of laughter, and I was going to combust. This time from embarrassment and not from sex.

“Because I’m not supposed to know how heats work? How do you think you got here?”

My grandmother was an Omega, but she’d never bonded. My mom was the result of close friends sharing a heat. No animosity, no drama. Sometimes I saw my grandfather, but not often. He traveled, same as my parents.

“I know,” I said. “But you still have to make sure I don’t have a heart attack.”

“Which one of us is the old woman?” I was about to comment, but she didn’t let me. “Thankfully, I was at the reception. I would have panicked if you didn’t show up for lunch on Monday.”

“Sorry.”

I practically saw her wave a hand. “That’s not what I meant. But I do want you to come over, and I want you to bring that pack of yours.”

“How do you know they’re my pack and not some guys I just took home?”

She snorted. My grandmother snorted. “Sure. That’s what they are. Are you free tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow?” I glanced at Asher. He nodded. “Yeah, I can do tomorrow.”

“Perfect. I mean it, Sloane. Bring them with you.”

“Okay.” I rubbed my forehead. “Just promise me you’re not going to scare them.”

“I make no such promise.” She cackled before she hung up.

I flopped back on the bed, and my two Alphas finally laughed. Ash laid on my legs, resting his head on my stomach. “So we’re meeting your grandmother?”

“You’ve already met her,” I mumbled.

“Yeah, but not asyourAlpha.”

“If I don’t bring you she’ll keep poking me until I do.”

Sliding his hands under me, he pulled up the hoodie so he could kiss my skin. “Any grandmother that talks about dick is okay in my book.”

Lifting my phone again, I started to sort through the mess of notifications that had built up during the heat. There were texts upon texts upon texts.
