PETRA

Hey, I was at the reception and I heard what happened. When you’re done getting railed, call me.

I want to hear *everything.*

EVA

I’m on set for two weeks and you get a pack? BITCH you have some shit to tell me.

Petra told me about the heat. Let us know when you’re alive again. We need girl time.

DION

Look at me, manifesting! I told you we would get you some good dick and you went into heat. Just call me a magician. Gonna start manifesting for Ian to disappear now.

Oh, and tell me when you’re back. I need details. We can compare dick stories.

There were a few more as well. Congratulations from Esme, and a check-in from Claire. There were new texts from Craig too, but I didn’t bother to look at them. If they were anything like what he’d been sending me before, it would be more delusional, possessive bullshit.

“Ugh. Leave me alone.”

“Hmm?” Ash seemed very comfortable with my stomach as a pillow. We’d laid like this before, but not with me practically naked. I was very aware how close he was to the apex of my thighs where he could use his mouth for all kinds of fun.

I sighed and tossed the phone aside. “Your favorite person.”

A low growl that didn’t have the effect he thought it did. “That reminds me. When I went to get your clothes? There was a note from him on the door. ‘Call me when the pretty boy isn’t holding you hostage.’ Your neighbor, Noreen, came out and talked to me about it.”

I blinked up at the ceiling. “He went back?”

“Yes.”

“Why?” It wasn’t a question for Ash. He had no way of knowing any more than I did. “It doesn’t make sense. I don’t know where he got the idea that I want any of this.”

Ash kissed my belly button. “When he showed up that morning he told me he was your boyfriend.”

“What?” I laughed. “Yeah, no. We never made it that far.”

“He clearly thinks differently.”

Shoving my hands into Asher’s hair, I drew his gaze to mine. “Well, he can fuck off.”

I loved the sight of his mischievous smile. “Is it okay if I look at the messages he sent?”

“Sure.” Better than me looking at them.

Craig and I had fizzled because Iwasn’treally interested in him for more than sex. He was passably handsome, and when we met, he had been charming. That charm wore off the more I got to know him. His hints of temper and occasional put-downs. Calling him back out of sheer loneliness was easily one of the dumbest things I’d ever done, but I couldn’t take it back now.

Not that it mattered. Even if I hadn’t found my pack, it wouldn’t have changed anything. He and I had been finished the minute he hadn’t turned around and realized I wasn’t with him.

Ash picked up my phone and started scrolling through. “Fucking hell,” he muttered.

“What?”

“I’d rather you didn’t know, if I’m honest.”

That made me prop myself up on my elbows. “Okay, now I have to see it.”

“Hold that thought.” Ash pushed up off the bed and moved behind me, framing my body with his legs so I could rest against his chest. The fact that he needed to hold me while I looked wasn’t a great sign. “It’s that bad?”
