Blowing out a breath, I hung my head. “Yeah, I get you.”

“But don’t think I’d rather choose the first option.”

“Same,” Roman said.

A few days ago all of us would have taken the other option without another thought. But now our Omega was the priority. Her safety, security, and happiness were more important than our instincts for revenge or anger.

“She cried?” Roman asked.

I nodded. “Badly. Could be the build-up of everything, though, and not just this.”

“Should have taken her back to the nest.”

“I think she’s good now,” I told him. “Gabe has the fire going and she’s basically nesting with him as a pillow.”

Roman reluctantly agreed.

Looking between the two of them, I launched the idea that had come to me once the heat broke earlier today. “What do you guys think about turning the extra room on Sloane’s floor into a studio for her? It wouldn’t be too difficult.” Then I laughed. “I guess you could use it too, Ash.”

“I think that’s a great idea. Do we make it a surprise?”

“Not sure how we’d be able to,” Roman pointed out, looking decidedly more relaxed. “If she’s already living up there.”

Thinking about it, I loved the idea of being able to surprise her if we could pull it off. “Let’s talk to Gabe when we can. I think we can make it happen.”

Ash pushed up from leaning on his elbows. “If we can, I think it would be great. But I think I’m going to go for a ride real quick.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Will that ride take you past Sloane’s apartment?”

“It might.”

“What happened to smothering the flame?”

Ash sighed. “Yeah, I know. I’m not going to stop or anything. But if he’s just standing outside the building and waiting, that tells us something.”

“And if you see him?”

“I keep driving.”

“You better,” I told him. “Because if he’s getting beat down, I want a piece.”

His grin turned feral. “You’ll be the first to know.” Grabbing his leather jacket and helmet, he went straight for the front door.

Roman sighed and looked at me. “Do you think it will get better?”

“What?”

“Being away from her. All I want to do is barge into Gabe’s room and snuggle her.”

It made me smile, because I felt it too. Not being in Sloane’s presence made me feel a physicalabsenceI’d never noticed before we met. It had always been there, like a phantom limb, but her being here brought it to the forefront. In a good way. Because I was now tied to her even before we were bonded.

“While Gabe probably wouldn’t mind, and neither would Sloane, I’d leave her for now. She’s exhausted. But yes, I think it will get better.”

“Thanks.”

He turned and went out the back door toward his own studio. For everyone else in the world, Roman could seem abrupt. Not to us. It was who he was, and none of us cared.

I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge before jogging up the stairs to my room. There was research I needed to do. Who the fuck did we hire to build us a dance studio?
