“Very well. But I expect to hear it.”

“You will.”

“Grandma Glass,” Ash said, stepping forward. “Nice to see you again.”

“Did you break Sloane’s heart?” If there was one thing Sophia Glass was, it was direct.

Ash, for once, wasn’t teasing. His face was entirely serious. He sank to one knee in front of her. “Not intentionally, and never again.” And then, like the charming Alpha he was, he took her outstretched hand and kissed the back of it before winking. “I’m a very happy man.”

“You fucking better be,” she said with a laugh. “Who are the rest of you?”

Each of my Alphas introduced themselves as I sat, slowly burning alive. Nerves and embarrassment were going to consume me. Ash picked me up and sat with me, so I was halfway across his lap.

Grandma smiled in approval.

“See?” He murmured. “That wasn’t so bad.”

“You weren’t here while she asked me for details about the heat.”

He laughed quietly into my neck. “Sorry.”

I leaned back into him, the closeness relaxing.

“Sloane here thought it would scar you too much to see an old woman like me climbing silks.”

“I did not say that,” a laugh cracked through me. She was in rare form today, and she didn’t look nearly as old as she was.

She took a sip of tea. “You were thinking it. Now, tell me what you do. I already know this one,” nodding toward Ash before pointing at Jace. “You first.”

One by one they spoke to her, answering questions about who they were and what they did. Even Roman, though his answers were shorter. It didn’t seem to bother her though, and the more he spoke, the more comfortable he became. Every time he looked at me butterflies broke out in my stomach. He was doing this for me, even if it wasn’t fully comfortable.

Pure instinct drove me from Asher’s lap and into Roman’s. He was stiff, not relaxing until I moved his hands around my waist and held them there. One deep breath in, and another. His body eased under mine, and we listened to Gabriel as he spoke. But Grandma still had her eyes on the two of us.

When Gabriel finished, Grandma looked around at my Alphas. “Well, I think it’s a little late for me to give my blessing to you, but you have it. Take care of Sloane. She deserves it.”

“We will.” Jace. His words sounded like a vow.

She lifted a hand to bring Marnie over before dropping her hands on her lap. Marnie handed Gabe what looked like a business card. “When you’re ready to take the next step, you let me know.”

Gabe nodded once and repeated the words. “We will.”

“Now, my synchronized swimming instructor will be here any moment.”

I blinked at her. “Who are you synchronized swimming with?”

“The instructor.”

“But—”

Grandma waved a hand. “Please. I can synchronize with myself. You think I would let anyone else have the spotlight even in my own pool?”

Everyone laughed.

“We’ll meet you at the car,” Gabe said, standing.

Roman set me on my feet, and they left us briefly alone.

Grandma held out arms, and I walked into them. “You like them?” I asked.
