“I do,” she said. “And I’m not simply saying that because they’re your matches.”

“Not a long time to get an impression.”

She laughed. “I’m an old lady, Sloane. Maybe not as old as some, but old enough. When you’re my age, you don’t need a long time to take the measure of someone. They’re good men, and they’re good for you. Even the quiet one.”

I smiled, and we pulled apart. “Do you really have a synchronized swim class? Or are you just trying to kick me out so I can have sex I’d rather you not know about?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” She tapped me on the nose. “Call me when you know your schedule for the next run, and we’ll figure out a time to have lunch.”

“Okay.”

She swept away dramatically—in a direction that was not toward the pool—and left me standing alone in the room.

I closed my eyes and shook my head, smiling. She was who she was, and I loved her for it. Even if she was trying to get me laid. On that note, I didn’t hesitate to get back to my Alphas.

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

________

SLOANE

“So that whole time, you watched all of us fall in love and you were alone? God, I’m just going to kill you,” Eva said, lounging in one of Petra’s giant bean bags.

Petra laughed. “You can’t kill hernow. She’s finally getting dicked down appropriately. That wouldn’t be fun.”

Eva narrowed her eyes. “Fine. But only because of the dick.”

“Generous of you,” I said, scratching behind Stormy’s ears as she bumped my shoulder with her head. “At least Stormy isn’t mad at me.”

“I’m not mad at you.” Eva let her head flop backward. “I just can’t believe it.”

“Bitch, get in line,” Petra said. “But it’s all fine now.”

We were having a girls’ day while my Alphas took care of my apartment. When everything was out they would come pick me up so I could say goodbye to the place like I’d asked. In the meantime there was food and a couple of drinks.

By the time we walked back into the house after being at Grandma’s yesterday, none of us had been able to wait. Being in the car with all four of them was a dangerous—and sexy—combination.

Gabriel had been about to lay me out on the kitchen island. Only Jace insisting none of us wanted to clean it made us hold on while the elevator took us upwards.

You win, Grandma.

But I’d spent most of this time catching my best friends up. Esme and I weren’t as close, only having officially met a month ago. We invited her, but she couldn’t make it. Something about her and her pack and a photoshoot? She hadn’t given many details.

“And I’m sorry,” Petra said. “I wish I’d never told you to fuck Craig.”

I smiled at her. “That’s nice of you, but we both know I was going to do it anyway.”

“Between the three of us, I think we have enough Alpha energy to take him down. Hell, I’m sure Esme’s pack will help. I don’t think Cole has killed anyone in a while, right?” Eva teased.

Petra went pale and winced.

“Too soon?”

“A little, yeah.”

“Sorry, Bee,” Eva whispered.

Stormy went over to Petra and collapsed in her lap. The cat was almost supernaturally sensitive to people’s moods. Especially Petra’s.
