"Azubah and I will talk to the newcomers and their families, catalog everything, and make sure they adjust well," Marduk offered.

"Good." Seth nodded, satisfied.

"So all these quests, they were for nothing?" I summarized what nobody wanted to say out loud.

"It appears so," Seth confirmed with clenched teeth.

"If Behlial had known, he wouldn't have rested until he found the last Nayphyllym on Adama," I voiced the terrible truth. As terrible as it had been for Adama, it would have been a million times worse if Behlial had gone back unchecked.

"By leaving the way they did, they saved whatever was left of their species on Adama," Asmodeus confirmed.

"Behlial must have known though, just look at this planet," Lilith argued, waving her hand toward Tartarus.

"Perhaps he did but took that as a sign that the Nayphyllym were out there somewhere and ready to attack Elysian if he broke his word," I pointed out. "For all he knew, they came back here to pick up the prince."

"We'll need to have another word with him," Seth said while rubbing his forehead, a clear indication he wasn't looking forward to that.

"I would appreciate a word with him," Demogorgon exclaimed vengefully, supported by Asmodeus, and Forcas nodded his agreement.

Seth called a guard, "Have Behlial brought up."

Tension rose in the room, as none of us were happy to see the bastard again, but we had questions.

Fay scooted her seat closer to me. "Nobody would think less of you if you were to return to our chambers," I offered.

She shook her head. Of all of us, she and Grigori's mate had had the least contact with Behlial, if any at all.

"I will be wherever you are," Fay said, ending our small debate.

After that, the room fell deathly quiet until the door slid to the side and a shackled Behlial entered.

He didn't look much like the King of Darkness who had terrorized me for centuries anymore, but when he saw all of us gathered, he straightened, then gazed from one to the other haughtily until his eyes reached the three princes we had rescued from Tartarus. That's when he broke out into the cackling laughter I remembered so well. The one that made my skin crawl and raised the urge to choke the bastard.

"Well, what kind of family reunion from hell do we have here? I would have never thought I'd see you again."

"Even after not having seen you for more than fifteen thousand years, I cannot say it's a pleasure," Demogorgon replied icily.

"Did you know that the Nayphyllym left Tartarus?" Seth came straight to the point.

"I had my suspicions, but that doesn't change their threat." Behlial met Seth's gaze head on.

"So you just dropped us off to die?" Asmodeus glared at Behlial.

Behlial shrugged. "That was the deal, and I held up my end of the bargain. Do you pups have any idea what a dangerous game you're playing by interfering?" He shook his head to answer his own question. "Of course not. So I suggest you quit playing king, Seth, and give me my title back so I can see what I can salvage of the mess you made. It's not too late."

"We're willing to take the risk," I replied before Seth had a chance.

"It's not just your lives you are playing with. All of Elysian is at risk," Behlial protested.

"A planet we have never seen and don't really care for," Seth pointed out, and I couldn't have agreed more.

"It's not like you instilled any love in us for ourhomeplanet," Grigori added.

"You ungrateful pup," Behlial thundered, and for the first time, I saw a chink in his demeanor. The bastard was afraid. He feared the Nayphyllym. "After all these years, the gods only know what kind of fleet they have developed to attack us again."

"Not thatyouhave given them any reason not to," I argued, after all, had he not followed them to Adama, the entire quest would have never happened.

"And what has Elysian done to protect themselves in all this time?" Seth kept the discussion on track.
