I unfolded my arms from my chest, tilting my head to the side. “I didn’t know we were going with Kunz when Theresa invited me.”

“Who’d you think she would be with?”

“Gem.” My voice got quiet. “Alred?”

Scout started laughing, a bitter sound. “Not likely. Garcia, I get her. She’s going to make stupid decisions, especially with that piece of shit, but she has other friends around here. She’s not alone. You? You’re all fucking alone. If Kunz tried something with you? I was at the fight. I’m not dumb. I know word gets out when I’m at these events.”

Gah. He was right. I lifted a shoulder.

Another biting laugh came from him, but he relaxed his hands. Not all the knuckles were so white now. “Fucking stupid, Ramsay—”

“Don’t call me fucking stupid.”

He shot right back. “I’m not calling you stupid. What you did was stupid, and you know it. That guy is dangerous.”

I couldn’t argue. I’d felt it the moment I got in that car. And dammit, I’d been trying to tell myself that I was fine, all fine, but my instincts were telling me otherwise.

“Why didn’t you text me?”

I shook my head, feeling the full force of being a dumbass. “I was just trying to tell myself I could get through the night. Nothing would happen, and then I’d know never to go with them again.”

“Why didn’t you text me?” he asked again, gentling his voice.

“Pride.”

He snorted, and I caught him rolling his eyes. “At least you’re honest about it.”

“Fuck you, dude.”

He glared at me. “Fuck you.”

“Fuck you!”

“Jesus. We’re children.”

“Look,” I burst out. “It was dumb, okay? I get it. But Theresa invited me out, and I was tired of being at the house alone because my mom works double shifts every night, so I went. My mistake was assuming she was with Gem and Alred because that was who she was with the last time I hung out with her. That was my mistake, but everything was fine until your confrontation.”

“You should’ve texted me,” he clipped out.

“We’re not friends!”

“Jesus Christ. We fucked. I’m friends with your cousins. You knew I’d help, and you still decided not to text me.”

My whole body was tense. “I let myself lean on my cousins, but I learned a year ago not to rely on another male.”

He bit out a harsh laugh. “Glad we’re keeping it real here.”

“We are. Because that’s how you and I are, remember?” I gave him a dark look.

He met it with his own.

We drove the rest of the way in silence until we pulled up to my house. He parked, cutting the lights and taking the keys out. He leaned back, sighing. “Your mom’s not here?”

“We are not friends. You don’t get to ask that.”

“Stuff it. I’m asking for other reasons.”

Oh.

Oh.

I was getting where he was going, and as soon as it clicked, my body felt like it was strummed tight. I was down for feeling nice tonight.

I opened my door. “Park on the street, just in case.”

He nodded.

I went to the house, unlocked the back door, and stepped inside.

He came inside not long after. I’d already gone upstairs to the bathroom, but I came back down as he was shutting the door and locking it. I motioned to the counter where I’d set a glass of water for him. He grunted a thanks before taking it and following me upstairs.

I didn’t know what his plans were, but he went into my bedroom, and I went back to the bathroom. If I could fall asleep after, I didn’t want to be screwed for school in the morning. So I got ready for bed like normal.

When I went into my room, we switched. He went to the bathroom.

I was waiting for him when he came back in. He had his phone in hand and looked around. “Can I plug this in somewhere?”

I motioned to my desk. “There.”

He plugged it in, setting it on the desk, and turned to me.

His eyes darkened.

My body was already heated up.

“Not that I’m aiming to do this, but if I fall asleep, will you freak out?”

It was almost three in the morning. “That would be dumb of me considering we gotta be at school in five hours. Will your uncle get pissed?”

He shook his head, pulling his sweatshirt off.

My mouth watered as his shirt came off next, and his muscles contracted with the motion. Goddamn. He was a gorgeous specimen, all ripped and corded muscles. He was perfect.

He dropped his jeans, then his boxer briefs, and began stroking his cock. He worked it quick. It was already half hard, but he finished it up, then looked at me. “Did we talk about condoms?”

“Do you have some?”

“I do.” He nodded, reaching for his wallet. He grabbed one and put a couple more in my desk drawer before coming over to me. He knelt down, tugging the sheet off my body, and his cock got a whole lot harder. He groaned. “Fuck, but you’re hot.”
