Narrow.

My heart jumps straight to my throat as Kastle strides over.

The golden lights bounce against his broad, muscular shoulders.

Absorb in his thick black hair.

In his dark eyes.

In his stern lips.

I dig my fingers into Luc’s handkerchief and will my heart to calm the heck down.

It’s just Kastle.

It’s just my best friend.

I can’t overreact every time I see him hurrying to my rescue like an Asian Prince Charming.

But how can I stop?

He’s so handsome.

So sweet.

So kind.

So mine.

Mine.

Sort of.

He slaps one palm against the table and hovers over me. “You were crying.”

“Allergies.”

His eyes sharpen liar.

I notice his tense shoulders. His heaving chest. “You got pulled over?”

“No.”

“Speeding ticket?”

He shakes his head.

“You’re getting one.” I check my watch. Notice how fast he got here. “I told you to stop driving like crazy whenever I call—”

He takes my hand. “I don’t care about a stupid ticket.”

My mouth goes dry.

There’s nothing running through my mind.

Nothing except for how warm Kastle’s hand is.

How deep his eyes are.
