I walk before her and open the door. “Let us get the door and go out first, even in the car, understood?”

“Sure,” she responds, dragging her hand along my side as I head into the garage.

For some reason, I don’t believe her, nor do I think about the way her touch burns my skin, causing me to ache. Ignoring it, I stride over to the huge SUV, where Dal sits in the driver’s seat. Opening the back door, I gesture for her to get in and she slides inside. Usually, I would put Astro in the back, since he’s good at keeping our marks comfy and happy, but I want space between them, so I get in with her and he gets in the passenger seat.

“All good?” I ask Dal.

He meets my eyes in the rearview mirror. “No IEDs, trackers, or issues.”

Reign looks up from her phone. “Bombs? Really?”

“I take my job very seriously, Miss Harrow,” I tell her, using that to keep some distance between us as I stare out of the window before glancing back to find her watching me. “Is now a good time to discuss the updates and upgrades to your security systems?”

“Do I have a choice?” she asks, crossing her long, supple legs.

“Of course. We would appreciate your input—” I grunt as she presses her foot into my thigh, spreading it wider. Giving her a warning look, I carry on. “It is your house and life, Miss Harrow,” I say as she presses her booted foot against my cock. I grip her ankle and squeeze, showing her a little of my strength as I try really hard to ignore the flare in her eyes as I lift her leg and place it down on the seat next to me. “As I was saying—”

“Fine, read me the list.” She sighs and settles back, but I know she hasn’t finished messing with me. I see the mischief in her eyes and the tilt of her red lips. For a moment, I get lost in them, imagining them wrapped around my hard cock. The tinted windows would stop anyone from ever knowing that I had their precious rock princess on her knees, begging for my cum.

Shifting, I try to ignore my dick and my dirty thoughts, but it’s like she knows because she chuckles and drops her gaze to my very obvious erection. “Need a hand?” she teases.

“I’m thinking cameras.” I hope that by focusing on my job, my stupid fucking hard-on will go away. I have never had this issue before.

“Like watching, do you?”

I actually choke on my own words. “Miss Harrow, this is very inappropriate,” I say, and she rolls her eyes.

“Fine, I’ll behave . . . for now. So cameras?” She easily switches to business mode, and I find myself missing her sass, but it does make it easier to focus on what I need to do.

“Boss, I need to know where we are going,” Dal says.

“Miss Harrow?” I inquire.

“I want a new car.” She reels off an address.

I don’t comment on that. Instead, I continue, “Cameras. We won’t have blind spots except for your bedroom and bathroom to give you privacy.”

“I don’t mind the bedroom.” She smirks.

I ignore that and the jerk of my cock. “We need to hire new guards for security detail, those we trust and know are up to scratch. I want some new alarms in place as well as a security officer. We will put together an approved list of visitors.”

“No one,” she replies, her face hardening.

“Miss Reign?” I ask, confused.

“My house is my sanctuary. They will not defile it again. No one will be allowed at my house except for me and you guys. Is that a problem?” She dares me to comment, but I just nod, and she looks out the window. “Do whatever you think is best.”

I don’t like the closed look on her face. I don’t even like that her eyes aren’t on me anymore. In fact, she seems to be trying very hard to ignore us. Suddenly, all joy is sucked from the car, leaving it cold and sterile like our normal jobs. She shut down on us, and a part of me hates that.

“It’s your house, Reign,” I say, dropping the title. “We will make sure it and you are safe.”

For a moment, her eyes come back to me, and I feel like cheering in victory. “Good, now let’s pick out a new car.” She smiles, and although it’s small, it’s there.

I nod, okay with whatever will make her happy.

I’m beginning to realize I would do anything so I wouldn’t have to see that look again, but some things start to click into place in my mind. Is that why she left? Her peace was taken, or defiled as she called it?

For the first time, like the rest of the world, I wonder what happened to Reign Harrow and where she went.
