“And how are we going to explain that to Jude? To my mom?”
“You could tell her you got another house-sitting placement with the Hartwell Agency.” I didn’t like the idea of asking Kendall to lie. But for now, it felt as if we didn’t have a choice. At least until I figured out how to handle this with my son.
“And Jude?” she pushed.
I lifted a shoulder, trying to convey nonchalance despite a twinge of anxiety. “We’ll tell him you’re moving in to the pool house.”
She scrunched up her face. It would’ve been adorable except I knew it meant she was going to try to refuse. “So…another lie.”
“Just for now.”
Just until I figured out how to tell Jude. Until I was confident Kendall would be in favor of the idea.
“Mm-hmm.” She pushed off the bed and started getting dressed.
Before she pulled her shirt over her head, I hooked my arms around her waist and hauled her back into bed with me. I rolled on top of her, pinning her in place.
“Knox!” She giggled, struggling to free herself from my hold. “Let me go.”
“Say you’ll stay,” I demanded.
“Ican’t. I have yoga with Emmy.”
I kissed her neck. Her clavicle. She sighed. Melted.
“You know what I mean,” I rasped against her skin.
“I love that you asked, but I don’t see how it could possibly work.”
“We’ll figure it out,” I said. “Just like we’ve figured everything else out. Together.”
She cupped my jaw, thumb brushing my lower lip as those hazel eyes sparkled up at me. “Together, huh?”
“Yes.” I slid between her thighs, thrusting in the crevice created by her skin. “Together.”
“Knox,” she moaned, arching into me. “I can’t.”
“Yes.” I gnashed my teeth. “And you will.”
“You can’t just make it so,” she protested, even as her body relaxed from my touch.
I met her eyes as I inched higher, my cock slipping between her wet folds but not breaching her core. “Watch me.”
“No,” she said, gnashing her teeth, fighting the pleasure even as it built.
“Yes,” I said, punishing her with my pace.
“No,” she said again, and I pinned her hands above her head.

I smirked, taking her words as a challenge. And then I used everything within my power to convince her to stay.
