He yanked my swimsuit down, his movements a whisper of a rustle behind me as he lowered his shorts and slid his cock between my legs.

“Yes, Knox,” I cried out as he entered me.

His movements were decisive, quick, the tension rolling off him in waves as he pumped into me. I leaned back into his chest, trusting that he had me. That he’d always have me, even when everything else felt out of control.

I grabbed the railing, and Knox placed the flat of his palm on my back. His touch was possessive yet loving.

I savored the taste of salty air on my tongue. The feel of his body rocking in motion with mine. The sound of the ocean as the waves lapped against the side of the boat.

I was so lost in Knox that I barely registered a knock at the door. A moment later, Jude called, “Dad?”

CHAPTERTWENTY-ONE

“Dad?” Jude called again.

I stilled, my hands gripping Kendall’s hips. My cock still buried deep inside her. Meanwhile, Kendall curled into herself, as if she could somehow magically disappear if she concentrated hard enough.

“What is it?” I asked through gritted teeth.

“Are you okay?” he called. “You sound…weird.”

I tried to relax, though I’d been on the verge of coming just a moment ago. “I’m fine.”

“Okay. Well, some of us are going to head over to Descanso.”

“I’ll come when I can.”

I thought that was the end of it, but then Jude said, “Kendall didn’t answer. So I’m guessing she’s still in the shower. She can come with you when you’re both ready.”

We’d been on the verge of doing just that when my son had interrupted.

Fuck.I squeezed my eyes shut.

Someone else joined him—it sounded like Jasper. And then their voices faded away.

“We can’t keep doing this,” Kendall said, righting her bikini as I pulled up my shorts.

“Just a few more days,” I said, knowing she was right.

I loved her, and I loved my son. And I didn’t know how to reconcile the two.

I was tired of the lies. The guilt. The deep sense of betrayal I felt, especially now knowing Jude still had feelings for Kendall.

I kissed her. “Take your time getting ready. I’ll meet you upstairs.”

“Okay.” She moved toward the door, but not before I grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to me for another kiss.

After everything with Jude, I wanted to make sure she didn’t have any doubts about my feelings. About us.

“I love you.” I smashed my mouth to hers.

Her lips formed the most beautiful smile. “I love you, Knox.” She kissed me again, a kiss filled with passion and promise.

Guilt weighed on me, but Kendall’s smile made me feel as if everything would be okay. At least, so long as I had her.

When she placed her hand on the doorknob, I said, “Wait.”

I opened the door and stepped into the hallway to make sure the coast was clear. Then I turned back to her and said, “Okay. Go.”
