“Good. Now, enough of all this crap. What did you learn today?”

“That I’m ready,” he whispered huskily into my ear, giving me chills all over my body. “I’m ready to take possession of my boy.”

As my eyes rolled back in my head, I melted into his touches. “Oh, god…”

“Yes, boy, I’ve learned things, I’ve discovered things about myself that will either scare you or arouse you.”

“Maybe both,” I said, moving to his mouth so I could show him how glad I was our waiting was over. “Rick…when can we…where will we go?”

“Phoebe’s coming tomorrow night for the entire night and part of the day, so we don’t have to get up too early to come home.”

“Okay, that tells me when but not where.”

“The guesthouse. I’ve done some work inside of it.”

“Right across the driveway?” I asked, skeptical it would work. “Chandler is going to see us there, Phoebe will know!”

“Hey, shh. We’re not going there right away. I'm taking you out for a good time, dinner, a stroll over a certain wooden bridge, and then we’ll end the evening at the guesthouse, boning like a couple of people your age, instead of old like me.”

I punched him in the gut, and not too playfully. I hated when he spoke that way about himself. “Stop with that!”

“Or what? My subby, my baby, my boy? What will you do?”

“Sleep in the guesthouse alone.”

“Oh?” He pushed me onto the couch and started to kiss me while he held me there. I didn’t fight him. Why would I? I loved having him on top of me, holding me so he could do whatever he liked to me.

I’d learned quickly that he was ready to have sex roughly. He hadn’t taken it far yet, but his grips on me were terribly tight, his kisses bruising at times, and when he thrust inside me, he used all his body to do so.

“God, not in the family room,” Chandler called from the doorway, and Rick scrambled off me. “Chandler! Um…”

“You guys have a room, I’ve seen it. It’s down the hall from my room, and have I ever thanked you for the soundproof walls?”

I was laughing, though I was nearly as embarrassed as Rick. Rick was red all over, even his hands. “Rick, he’s not that upset about it.”

“No, Dad, I don’t care, I just don’t need to see it.”

Rick went to Chandler and kissed him on the top of his head. “Sorry. We’ll be more careful next time.” After Rick sat at the island, Chandler kept throwing him glances, obviously worried. “Son, you know you can talk to me, or Kanan, or both.”

“You still paying Kanan?”

I was thrown by the question, and so was Rick. “Of course. He’s still working with you.”

“Okay. Just making sure. I’ve read some horror stories about guys that are worse than the ones that keep their wives barefoot and pregnant. Kan, didn’t you have a guy like that?”

Thrown further, for sure, I didn’t know how to answer at first. Rick was even staring at me, waiting for me to answer. “Chandler, no, we talked things over, and I decided with him that I would stay home. I had a little money left from my inheritance, and he made sure I had money when I needed it. It was the way we broke up that left me hurt, not the way we lived as much.”

Rick sighed and seemed relieved. “Kan, you don’t ever have to feel that way here.”

“I don’t, but I’m also thinking of getting my job at the diner again.”

“Who’s gonna watch over Colby?” Chandler asked me.

“Phoebe, like always, and me, when I’m here, your dad when he’s here.”

“Why would you work back there, though?”

“Chandler, stop grilling him,” Rick warned.
