Rossi frowns at me and answers the call.

“What?” he snaps down the line; I see the moment the penny drops, and he stares at me with pure murder in his dark blue eyes.

“Get it under control!” he yells before slamming his phone on the table and stabbing the gun at me in a rage. “What did you do?”

“You didn’t think I would just walk in here without a plan, did you?” I ask as my grin spreads further as I watch the panic and anger intensify. “For every five minutes that my head of security doesn’t hear from me, one of your properties will burn to the ground. I have people stationed at them all over the UK. Nothing will go unburnt,” I explain, enjoying his suffering a little too much. He deserves nothing less for thinking he can use my princess to hurt me.

“I’m going to fucking kill you! Call them off now!” he bellows as his gun shakes.

I make a show of patting myself down.

“Well, how about that; it appears my phone is in the car,” I look at Oliver. “Do you have yours, Lawson?” Oliver frowns and shakes his head.

“No, sorry; I must have forgotten it too.”

I turn back to Rossi, smiling smugly.

“And our driver knows that if anyone tries to get in the car without me or sees me being held at gunpoint, he is to message for all buildings to burn, including this one,” I explain, watching him trying desperately to think of a way out of this mess. I let go of Gabriella to cross my arms over my chest and force myself to appear relaxed.

“Now, why don’t we sit down, and as I promised, I will tell you how your son died.”

“You fucking prick!” Rossi roars.

“Funny enough, that was the last thing out of his mouth before he started begging for his life like a little sniffling child.”

“I’m going to fucking kill you!” Rossi roars as he lifts his gun. I spin around and push Gabriella out of the way as a shot sounds. I push her under the table and stand straight as Rossi roars again and fires another shot. He’s shaking so hard that the shot, thankfully, goes wide. I hear Gabriella scream, but I know she’s safe for now.

“Dan now!” is all the warning I get to drop to the floor and roll under the table as shots ring out around us in rapid fire. Oliver and I both throw ourselves over a balled-up Gabriella. Protecting her the best we can in case of any stray bullets.

“About fucking time,” I curse as I listen to the machine gun that’s attached to the drone which Neil has flown up to the window. I hear gunfire outside the room, and Gabriella screams as someone kicks down the door. There is a commotion for a moment, and something heavy hits the table as my guys and Rossi fight. But I know my guys are better; it is over in less than a minute.

“It’s clear, Sullivan.”

I get out from under the table and see the damage from the machine gun and the hand-to-hand combat. Rossi is lying across the table, eyes staring at me, unblinking, dead from a gunshot wound to the head. I shut my thoughts down and concentrate on the important thing. I am getting Gabriella out of here as quickly as possible.

I look under the table where Oliver is clinging to a shaking and crying, Gabriella. Fuck I wanted to keep her away from this. Once I know she is safe, if she wants to leave me after seeing all of this, I won’t stop her.

I hold out my hand and give her what I hope is a reassuring look.

“Come on, princess. Close your eyes and keep them shut until I say,” I whisper softly. She looks to Oliver, who nods. I watch as she takes a deep calming breath and looks up at me before taking my hand and closing her tear-filled eyes.

Slowly I guide her out from under the table, placing my other hand on her head to ensure she doesn’t knock it. The second she is on her feet, I pull her to me before lifting her into my arms as I did when I found her in that hotel room. I kiss the top of her head as she curls up against my chest and lets out a heart-breaking sob.

“I’ve got you, princess. You’re safe now,” I whisper as Neil gives Oliver a hand to get to his feet on the other side of the table as we reach him.

“The way out is clear,” Neil explains as I look at him and nod.

“Thanks,” I reply, heading out of the room and through the house, desperate to put this whole nightmare behind us.

We walk out of the house and reach the car where Malcolm is sitting, he goes to get out, but Oliver shakes his head and opens the door for me. I place Gabriella on the back seat and run a hand over her tear-soaked face. She clings to my shirt as I press a kiss to her lips.

“Are you sure they didn’t hurt you?” I ask again, needing to know for sure. My strong woman shakes her head. I let out a sigh of relief as I lean my forehead against hers for a moment. “Let me give the guys their orders, and I will take you home, princess.”

Gabriella nods as I kiss her quickly again before she slides over to the other side of the seat, and I stand next to the car with Neil and Oliver.

“What about the other buildings?” Neil asks.

“Let everyone see what happens if they mess with any Sullivan.”
