“And I think if we were shagging, I’d trust you more.”

Darwin rubs a hand through his hair, ruffling his quiff. “I understand what you’re saying. Sex can create trust. I just don’t want to go into it with a lot of unresolved feelings and have it backfire.”

Gabe shapes my face with his warm palm, bringing my attention back to him. “Teddy, do you really feel we’re not committed to you? We bought a house today. We’re building a future together.”

Darwin sighs. “Is that the problem? That I bought the house?”

I reach out and find his hand, twining our fingers together. “No, that’s okay, mate. I don’t know any other way to say it. I don’t think I’d feel so insecure if we were shagging.”

“Let’s try what I had in mind for tonight and see if that helps,” Charlie says. “Bananas, bean. Kiss each of us, and then go get in the shower.”

Chapter30

Going Bananas

The “scene start word,” or whatever it is, really does help. As soon as Charlie says it, I know what I’m supposed to be doing.

I tip my face up to Gabe. His plush lips find mine in a slow, seeking kiss. He’s not rushing to get to the good stuff. He’s enjoying touching, connecting, being together. I melt into that sense of timeless pleasure.

I’m boneless and nearly swooning when Gabe shifts me backward into Darwin’s arms.

Darwin twists so I’m lying on my back on the couch. He stretches out against me and kisses me with his whole body. I drown in him. His warm lips work against mine. The pure, slightly effervescent taste of him fills my mouth. He rubs himself against me as we kiss, the hard muscles of his chest, abs, and thighs rolling against me. I’ve heard people joke about the “horizontal mambo,” but that’s what we’re doing. We’re dancing lying down, our bodies working together in time to the sweet music of wanting.

I’m panting, clutching at him, when he pulls back and slides me off the couch into Charlie’s arms. Charlie pulls me down to straddle him. His hands slide under my sweatshirt. He kneads my breasts as he kisses me, his tongue lapping against mine in time to his thumbs flicking my nipples. I grind down on him, wanting him inside me so badly I’m happy to beg.

“Please, Charlie,” I whisper between kisses.

“See, that’s what I want to hear.” He runs his hand up my back and cups my nape. “All I want is for you to need me.”

I fill my hands with the big muscles of his back and squeeze. “You know me. The girl who needs nowt. But I’m trying. I’m nothing but broken pieces without you. All three of you.”

Charlie breaks our kiss to feather his hand down my face, his eyes emerald-intent on mine. “Yeah?”

I nod.

Gabe leans forward from where he’s shifted against Darwin and rubs my shoulder. “That’s beautiful, Teddy. I know you love me, but I’ve always felt I need you more than you need me. Hearing you need us, that’s everything, baby girl.”

I tip my head back and he kisses my forehead before Charlie exerts gentle pressure on my nape to draw me back into his kiss. He nips at my lips, keeping his kisses light, flicking his tongue against my lips rather than filling my mouth. I feel the shift, away from our deep and stressful conversation to something lighter, more playful.

When he releases me, Charlie half-lifts me out of his lap and smacks my arse. “Shower.”

I scramble up, give him a cheeky salute with two fingers, and run to the bathroom before he follows through on his growl. I get it now. I can still snark and tease—I can still beme—when we play, as long as we all know where we stand.

As strained and uncomfortable as it was at moments, I’m glad we had tonight’s talk.

I shower off the sweat of our spar and a strange, fine layer of grit on my hands and face. I’m not sure where that came from. I get dusty when I Earth-Walk but not usually when I pull on my Element otherwise.

Charlie climbs into the shower just as I’m rinsing off. He hands me a loofa and I scrub his back. When I’m finished, I reach around and tug on the wet, sandy curls below his navel.

“Gabe and Darwin are trimmed,” I tease.

“You want to manscape me?” Charlie asks, tipping his head back into the spray to wash his hair.

Fuck, that’s tempting.

“Can Gabe and I design something?”

“Designsomethin’?” he asks as he lathers up with shampoo that makes the shower smell like a pine forest. “What the fuck does that mean?”
