Kinsley nodded. “Unless there are things that you think we should discuss tonight.”

“We will be meeting with one family tomorrow afternoon. I’d rather you not know anything about them ahead of time if that is okay with you,” I replied.

“That’s fine. What time did you want to meet?” she asked.

It was tempting to invite her for breakfast but for now, I needed to put a little more distance between us. It isn’t what Reesa asked but then again Reesa had no clue how my cock was trying to overrule my brain.

“How about one o’clock in the main lobby?” I said.

“I’ll be there and ready. Now, what do you suggest I order for dinner?” she asked.

Something that you don’t need to suck or lick.

“You won’t find better seafood.”

“I love fried fish and fries,” she said.

I called the waitress over and ordered for us. The waitress said, “Would you like to eat in here or I could bring it out onto the patio? It’s a lovely night.”

Not you too.

“Here is fine, thanks.” My tone might have been cold, but I was done with everyone trying to get me to be close to Kinsley.

“Would it be too much trouble if I asked for mine to be delivered to my room?” Kinsley asked.

I looked at her and asked, “Is everything okay?”

She nodded. “I just didn’t get any sleep. Jetlag is kicking my butt and I really would like to be well-rested for tomorrow.”

The waitress said, “I’ll have it brought up to your room. How about you, Mr. Blaze?”

“I’ll eat here.”

When the waitress left Kinsley asked, “Did you want me to stay so you don’t need to eat alone?”

I shook my head. “No. I’m used to it. Go get your rest. Tomorrow is a big day. Goodnight, Kinsley.”

She rose from her seat and said, “Goodnight, Draven.”

My body only began to relax once I saw her leave the restaurant. She wasn’t the only one who didn’t get much sleep last night. I didn’t want a repeat tonight. Calling the waitress over, I ordered myself a beer. It was going to take more than one, but I had nothing else to do tonight.

Wonder how many beers it’s going to take before I don’t think about Kinsley and that damn dress.

CHAPTER7

Kinsley

I didn’t expect to hear from Brian, but I had to admit, I was glad he called.

“How are you holding up?” he asked.

“I’m doing good.”

“Don’t lie to me, Kinsley. You might not have told Damien or Draven about what happened to you, but I knoweverything,” he reminded me. “Are you still getting headaches?”

“Yes, but not as frequently as earlier.” What I wasn’t about to tell him was that when I did get them, they felt like a sledgehammer pounding against the right side of my head. Logan said it was something I might need to learn to live with for the rest of my life, but he never mentioned anything about them getting worse.

I should call him, but I’m hopeful that it’s just the lack of sleep that is affecting me this way. Or maybe the stress of starting a new job. It can’t be the damage from being shot. I refuse to let it be.
