“It’s understandable. But I’m glad you showed me,” I said.

She nodded. “Me too. Now you know everything,” she stated.

All except for how you feel about me.

I wasn’t going to tell her again. The last thing I wanted was to push her away because she didn’t share the same feelings for me. You can’t make anyone love you. I have proven that in the past when women said they had fallen for me. But she felt something, and I didn’t believe it was just friendship.

Maybe she needs more time. Or maybe this was the wrong time to tell her.

Luckily, she wasn’t going anywhere, and the one thing on my side was time.

“How about we get to work so we can have an early dinner tonight,” I suggested.

“Sounds good. I’m really looking forward to getting out of the resort for some fun.”

And I was just looking forward to spending more time with her.

CHAPTER15

Kinsley

Things felt different with Draven since our conversation this morning. He seemed quiet. I knew sharing what happened to me was not going to be easy. Not for me or for him. Draven was amazing and compassionate but that didn’t change how I felt on the inside. Maybe he realized that too.

Either way, he knew everything there was to know and hopefully that was the first and last time he was ever going to see my scars.

He reached over and took my hand in his. “Are you okay?” he asked.

I nodded. “I can’t stop wondering why Reesa wants to see us right now.” The SUV turned the corner, and her building was in sight.

“I have no idea. Trust me, I asked, and she said that it was better if we spoke in person,” he replied.

“Is Bennett going to be there?”

“No. Just the two of us at this meeting,” he stated.

“That doesn’t sound good.” Had someone told her about us becoming more than just colleagues?

“Try not to worry. At least not until we have to.”

“Is that supposed to make me feel better? Because it doesn’t,” I replied.

“I honestly have no idea why she wants to speak to us. If you’ve noticed, I’ve been quiet the entire way.”

“Yes, you have.” I’d thought it had to do with me.

“That’s because I’ve been trying to figure out what the meeting is for. And all it did was give me a headache. I will say, it’s not like Reesa to be so…secretive.”

Seeing the concern in him only made me more nervous. But what was the worst thing that could happen? Reesa could tell us that our services weren’t needed any longer and we were fired. I’d feel as though it was all my fault, because Draven had been there for a year, and Reesa had been nothing but pleased with what he’s done.

“Do you think someone complained about us?” I asked softly.

Draven raised my hand to his lips and kissed my fingers. “You’re amazing, Kinsley. There is nothing to complain aboutus. Me on the other hand, well, let’s just say that you’re the sugar and I’m the vinegar.”

I laughed. “Nice try. But I already figured you out. I’m not saying you couldn’t be a badass, but you’re one of the good guys.”

“Hey, don’t ruin my reputation,” he whispered pointing to TJ in the driver’s seat.

I rolled my eyes.Men!“Well, we are here. I guess we’re about to learn our fate.”
