“I need everyone to listen to me carefully. This isn’t like last time, it’s different. I can feel it. Knowing that I am a Fae and Seer means that my powers are growing and I need to utilize those skills. The power pulses through my veins, surging with power and possibility. I really think that my Seer powers are showing,” I stated firmly.

I could see Anson growing agitated, but deep down he knew that I was right about this.

“Your dream, that was your Seer powers, wasn’t it,” Candi said, as though the realization just occurred to her.

“I think so,” I responded. I wasn’t sure how either one of us hadn’t discovered that before now, but it all made sense. Someone or something was lurking in the shadows of my mind trying to tell me something.

Rubbing his hands together, Leo jumped up and smiled. “Sounds to me like we’ve got a new adventure.”

Chapter 9

Thenextmorning, wewere all woken by a blaring message over the school intercom.

“Students, please remain in your dorms until further notice,” announced Headmaster Patricia.

Groaning, I rolled over, thankful for an opportunity to catch up on some sleep and rest.

Just as my eyes closed again, my phone buzzed on the bedside table. Grabbing the device, I saw a message from the Headmaster.

Shooting out of bed, I read the message that had been sent to me. I had never received a personal message from the Headmaster and I wasn’t sure this was a good sign.

Headmaster: Farrah, a member of my security team will be by to escort you to my office. Please be ready in ten minutes.

“Seriously!” I yelled out to myself.

Lily and Candi sat up in their beds, watching me like I had grown two heads.

“What’s going on?” Candi asked.

I walked over and showed her the message from the Headmaster, and her eyes grew wide.

“What do you think she wants?” Candi asked.

“Obviously to talk about last night,” I snapped, internally cringing at how rude I just was. I could see the hurt on their faces and I knew I had to quickly make it right. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to snap at you all like that. I’m just nervous,” I admitted.

“It’s ok, but you need to keep your emotions calm. You are all over the place right now,” Candi said, waving her hands in the air.

Sighing, I rushed to the closet and threw on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt I had brought from home. With classes canceled, I figured it would be ok for me to wear my normal clothes.

After throwing my hair in a high ponytail, I opened my dorm room door and spotted the new girl I had seen in class. Her long hair was braided across her shoulder and she eyed me carefully.

“Are you ready?” she asked me.

I looked around, making sure she was talking to me. Was this who the Headmaster sent as security?

“Um, are you here for me?” I nervously questioned her.

Her face remained stoic as she huffed out a heavy breath. “Yes, why else would I be standing outside of your door,” she snarled.

I didn’t like her attitude or the fact that I had no idea who or what she was. I could only trust a few people right now and this was making me uncomfortable.

“What’s going on?” Candi asked, moving into the doorway.

“The Headmaster sent me to pick up Farrah, but she’s acting strange,” the girl provoked, keeping her tone even.

“Look, a man was murdered last night, and I have had… issues here. I think you need to start by telling me your name before I think about going with you,” I demanded.

“Besides, why would the Headmaster ask a new student to retrieve Farrah. That doesn’t make sense,” Candi argued, crossing her arms defiantly across her chest.
