“Oh really? Turnabout isn’t fair?”

“Yes…but…who’d want to go out on a date withme? No one in town knows me, but everyone knows you. In fact, I bet single women would be willing to pay a substantial amount for one date.”

“I tell you what, I’ll donate money in place of that ridiculous idea.”

“Okay, we’ll put the idea on the back burner for future discussion. We need to get our hands on a computer. I have no idea how she’s gone this long without one.”

“Bonnie is old school.”

“We’re about to revamp Bonnie’s Bluebonnets. People will be excited to get their hands on her arrangements.”

“I’ve heard that people use online shops or grab flower bouquets at the grocery store when they’re picking up items. Hell, I even noticed that our corner market carries bouquets.”

She blinked. “What? You can’t compare cellophane wrapped, wilted flowers to those grown by local farmers.”

“People want cheap and easy.”

“I’ll be the first to agree that in a small community like this she won’t make enough business to thrive. That’s why this computer will help. We can put Bonnie’s Bluebonnets on the eCommerce map.”

“Whoa, take a breath, speedy. If you haven’t noticed, Bonnie has no employees. You might want to check what Bonnie is interested in doing.”

She saw his point. “Okay, but Iamcreating a website. That’s bare bones in business. And she needs at least one worker besides herself.”

“Are you talking about finding a volunteer or intern because she doesn’t have the funds to pay someone.”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”

“Whenwecome to it? How did I get lumped into this?”

“Ahh, come now, Cowboy. You’re doing a good deed.” It seemed natural to lean in and kiss his cheek.

Their gazes locked.

A low moan escaped him.

The feeling in the air changed.

Chapter Sixteen

He wanted to kiss her.

What was stopping him?

There was nothing holding him back. He saw the invitation in her expression.

He could pull away and wonder what he missed, or he could dive in and see where things could go.

Always liking a challenge, he went with his instinct.

Raven cupped her face and stared at her, overcome with a deep-rooted need so strong he would have given his last breath to have just one taste of her. Dipping his mouth to hers, he ran his tongue over the sweet contour of her shapely lips. He claimed her mouth, wanting her. Needing her.

A need for oxygen had him lifting his head. “We should stop before my body overtakes logic and I end up taking you right here, right now, on this uncomfortable couch,” he said against her cheek as he breathed in her scent.

“Why should we stop?” She placed her fingers against his neck where his pulse thrummed like a mad man’s.

His gaze lowered to her swollen pink lips, to the open neck of the robe that skimmed the fullness of her firm breasts. She asked a question he couldn’t answer. Why should they stop? They were consenting adults.

She lifted herself up and over his lap, straddling him. The robe had slipped off one shoulder. He stared at her, transfixed in how much he wanted her. He brought his hand up and grazed the backs of his knuckles over her smooth, flawless cheek. Her eyes were like spellbound gems, drawing him in.
