“Sadly, I don’t think it’s my kiss you want, Raina,” he teases me. “Is it?”

My cheeks burn. He pulls my hands away from his body and pins them down on the bed. The swift movement both startles and arouses me, a show of his physical power.

“You don’t want to kiss me,” he says.

“I said I wanted a casual fuck,” I say. “But if you’re going to make a big deal out of this, I guess we shouldn’t.”

“What are you so afraid of?” He asks me, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.

I’m briefly taken aback by that question, and it doesn’t help that his weight hovering over me feels like heaven.

“I’m not afraid of anything,” I finally stutter. “I told you; I’m not interested in what you’re offering long term.”

“I know; it’s a casual fuck or nothing at all. I understand,” he says. “And I accept. How could I reject my sweet mate asking for satisfaction from the only male who can give it to her?”

“Drop the mating talk,” I request. “You know what? It’s best if you just shut up and start kissing me.”

“I won’t kiss you on your mouth just now,” he says. His eyes flick down toward my spread legs. “But I’d be happy to kiss between your legs and taste your cunt.”

“Is that how you start things in your culture?” I ask distantly. I’m caught between the burning excitement starting up down south and the lingering desire to finish what I started. My pussy is more than happy with his suggestion, but it will make reaching that back pocket nearly impossible.

“There are no rules,” he says, dipping down to kiss the sensitive skin below my ear. He uses the gentlest touch of his tongue, and that alone makes my skin burst with tingles. It feels wonderful, so wonderful that I almost moan from that one kiss.

He moves down, tugging at my neckline. He trails more kisses down my neck, over the hollow of my throat. Desperate for that key, I grab his face and pull him back up.

“Yes,ti kori?” He asks, dark eyes dancing with amusement.

“You won’t kiss my lips?”

“Trust me; you do not want that now. You are up to your little tricks, and I’m a bastard for taking so much pleasure from it, but I’m not that much of a bastard. A Kar’Kali kiss is powerful. You won’t be able to stop if I kiss you.”

He knows perfectly well that I’m up to something.

“I told you I’m not afraid,” I insist. My curiosity is piqued by his comment. This is the perfect moment to take that damn key and get out of here. He can pry the key out of my dead hand if he wants it back after that. I know he won’t hurt me—I’m strangely confident in that fact.

I hook my leg around his, slip my hands out of his hold, and roll him over. He helps me get where I want until I’m straddling his chest. He could have kept me pinned, but he chooses to let me take control.

“What are you up to now?” He asks, running his finger under the strap of my unitard. “I assume you’re not hiding cuffs or a stinger under this tight little thing, but I can never be sure with you.”

“You did buy a very fitted ensemble,” I muse, arching my back. “I wonder why.”

“It’s the best for wearing with airseals. The fact that I can admire your figure is simply a bonus.”

“And you wonder why I don’t want you following me around,” I tease with a click of my tongue.

“I’ll stalk you like a crow and squawk at you.” He grins, black eyes glittering. “I’ll follow you until this life of ours passes into the next.”

My chest feels tight, and I have to laugh to release the tension.

“I bet akaiacould eat a crow,” I say, leaning down until our noses are a hair from touching.

“I don’t doubt that one bit,” he whispers against my lips. “You have my permission to devour me. Consume me and spit out my bones, kaia. Take me into your lair and tear me apart. If only you keep me.”

Every sentence he speaks hits me somewhere deep. The pit of my stomach is rising to my lungs. I’ve never met a man like him, but then he’s an alien and a pirate to boot.

I close the scant distance between us and kiss him, wanting to know what he claims is so powerful. His lips are rough as I crash into him. I’ve been told before that I kiss like a freight train. I’ve never bothered with anything gentle or tentative. I go right for the good stuff, slipping my tongue inside and stroking against his until he sighs. Yes, I knew he’d like it this way because he seems to like my very nature. He likes my hard edges. He’ll like it even more when I bite him. I don’t want to think about what it means.

I’m ready for more, ready to devour him just like he asked, but before I can get carried away, he stops me. He takes me by my shoulders and tears me off.
