“You could have told me,” I mutter. Even as I wonder whether my efforts to remove the saliva worked, heat begins to build inside me.

I clutch at my throat as flames start creeping through my body. I fall to my knees.

Niko plucks a towel from the hotel’s side table and comes to my side. He wipes my spit from the floor and sighs, bending his massive form to sit with me.
