Its eyes opened, taking in the dim surroundings of the pod and their pliant mate sound asleep beside them. She was naked and resting in their arms, her breasts pressed to their chest. She looked peaceful as she dreamt, with her lips slightly parted, her soft breath tickling their skin.

It was an experience it had longed for. Craved like a drug. And now it had exactly what it wanted.

Almost.

The temptation to roll her onto her back, part her pretty thighs, and slip its tongue into her warm cunt was nearly overwhelming, but it was currently sharing Cazar’s form. Any movement it attempted would wake the other male, and it doubted his thoughts on sharing their woman had improved.

Little did Cazar know though that he’d been sharing her each time they’d mated, allowing itself to bask in the stirrings of pleasure, and the warmth of their mate’s affections each day. It had been more than content to take a backseat, simply enjoying what was offered.

But now wasn’t the time for pleasure, not in the carnal sense anyway. Now it was time to let the Aragnokan ask his questions, especially since Evie had seemed interested in learning more of ‘Joe’. It felt a sudden surge of arrogance. Shewantedto know it.

It had been waiting for Evie to slip into a deep sleep before it spoke with Cazar, if only to toy with the male a bit before their travel began anew to ‘rid’ the Aragnokan of this symbiotic bond.

Wake, it whispered in Cazar’s mind.

The male’s eyes flickered open immediately, their vision flickering from gray to the colored hues that normally aggravated its eyes.

Luckily it was dark, preventing the irritation from affecting it too badly. Even more luckily, ever since Cazar had gotten closer with Evie, the symbiotic bond between it and the male had grown exponentially. Now it could finally speak whenever it wished without Cazar tuning it out.

Excellent.

Cazar pressed his lips to Evie’s forehead before gently untangling himself from her, sitting up and looking around.

You know I’m not out there. I’m in here, it taunted.

Cazar sighed, quietly standing. He dressed in slow movements so as to not wake their female and then, with one last, longing look at Evie, he left the pod.

He retraced their steps back toward the river’s edge and, as he did so, it used their combined heightened senses to detect if any potential threats were nearby. Satisfied that they were in fact alone, it waited for Cazar to finally speak.

“I’m uncertain of what to say,” Cazar spoke into the night, finding a large downed log and sitting upon it.

You can ask anything.

“How long do you normally stay with a host?”

Only long enough for them to remain useful. Typically I feed off of them for short periods of time. Their minds, their strength. It does not matter. When they weaken, and I have what I need, I vacate the current host in search of a new body.

“What happens to the hosts when you’re done with them?”

If I’ve taken too much, they wither and die.It was often the case. Before, it had never cared for the welfare of its hosts during or after it had parted from them. Now, however, it had begun to harbor a grudging respect for the male that had ensnared Evie’s heart. The notion confused it, but regardless, its host was a strong-willed male, worthy of its respect.

“Is that what will happen to me?”

No. I have not taken anything from you. Only provided,it answered vaguely.

“Why not feed off of me?”

She would not like it.

“Evie?”

No, the other human woman I am obsessed with.

Cazar snorted, running a hand down his face. “That was a stupid question.”

Yes.

“That day in the lab, when you infected–”
