“I know my kind,” she whispered.

“So he left?”

“Yeah, like three nights ago.”

“They didn’t happen to say where they were headed.”

“North. That’s all I was able to overhear.”

“Thanks.”

“Sure thing.”

“And Whisper?”

“Yes.”

"I'm sending someone out to get you. I understand you not wanting to stay in Washington, but there is no way in hell I'm letting you work those motels."

"That's none of your business."

"The hell it isn't."

I hung up the phone because I wasn't going to get into it with her. She was a handful, but I'd rather keep her close than have her placed in danger. Now was not the time to take unnecessary risks.

A few hours later I found out that Snare had talked to Blow, the Central Texas VP, and asked for permission to stay at the safehouse. Unfortunately, when the Royal Bastards showed up after a run, they took him by surprise. From what I could see, he had no intention of killing anyone, and it seemed to me that Guardrail was a live wire who was famous for looking for trouble. And he sure as hell found it. He must have done something pretty garish for Snare to snap like he did.

He ran at that point, and the men he had beaten called Blow that night to disclose his whereabouts. Snare then fled to Memphis with the girl, which brought me to my current location. I was sitting with Malice and Tires, the Sargent at Arms and Road Captain of the Memphis chapter, respectively.

"Are you certain it was Snare?"

Malice leaned forward. "Listen, the look he gave me indicated that he knew exactly who he was dealing with.’

He made it clear that he was heading up to see Kingpin, but while we were tailing him, he veered into the words and we lost his trail. Last thing we heard was that he was on Forty heading toward Little Rock.”

He was avoiding states with members, but he would eventually have to cross the Colorado border, and I would ensure Rock was on the lookout. This guy was intelligent, and I still couldn’t understand his motive or why he triggered an all-out manhunt. He must realize that it wouldn't go on forever; we would eventually capture him."

“How long ago was that information given to you?"

"Four or five hours ago," Tires responded. "However, I doubt he will get far with the girl."

Malice nodded. "He will have to lay low for a while."

I agreed. "He can't remain hidden for long."

Tires grunted. "He's got the girl with him. That complicates things. We need to find him soon."

Malice and I exchanged a glance. We knew Tires was right. The longer Snare remained on the loose, the more dangerous the situation became. He was already a rogue member, and with the girl in his possession, he could do anything.

I spoke up. "We need to spread the word. My sister, Whisper, can help us. I’ll inform her to let me know if she sees anything shady. My dad owns properties along the road, and we can keep an eye out for him. But with the way he's moving, he won't be staying in any motels anytime soon."

Malice nodded. "We'll put the word out on our end, but he seems to know the roads and he’s good at hiding.”

"I might not be able to catch him in Missouri, but I will certainly meet him at the Colorado border. He's heading down a dangerous path, and if he continues like this, bad karma will catch up with him."

"Karma? That guy killed one of our own. He doesn't need karma, he needs the force of the RBMC on his ass."

"Regardless of what he did, he's under Jameson's jurisdiction. Besides, Guardrail wasn't an exemplary member." I added.
