As I surveyed the property, it was evident that bodies had been removed, leaving only traces of blood behind. The perpetrators had taken great care to ensure that nobody outside the gates knew of the intrusion. When I attempted to review the camera footage, it had already been erased, leaving me with no leads.

According to the brothers, Snare had kept to himself and hadn't formed any close relationships with anyone. He had come down from Nashville and was one of Kingpin's Prospects. Riddick, who was unresponsive when I tried to contact him, was the only one who had any insight into this guy. Jameson had reached out to Hound to see if he could locate him down in Vegas. While I was considered one of the best trackers, Hound was on another level, which is why Jameson had recently named him President of the Vegas Chapter.

My dad worked closely with those guys up in Nevada, the stories were as true as they came. No one really acknowledged their powers but I had seen them first hand, when Jigsaw had saved both Belle and I. The Vegas Chapter wasn’t any different. There was something powerful that surrounded that desert and in turn, our brothers and my mother. Jameson had stressed the importance of respecting it, and it was something that we all accepted without question.

While Hound was searching for Riddick, I worked with Hoax, who acted as my eyes while I was on the ground. We tracked our target to Louisiana and discovered that he had stopped at one of my father's motels. When I called the property, my younger sister Whisper answered the phone.

"Whisper?" I said.

"Ethan?" she replied.

"What the hell are you doing down south?" I asked, surprised.

She sighed. "That's what you say to me after all this time."

"You should be home," I told her.

"So should you. Mom misses you," she said, her voice softening, and there was a long pause. I missed my mother and knew it had been too long. My dad was another story, he tended to disappear . But I knew he was still angry with me for having left, let alone not calling.

"I want you back home," I finally said.

“Dad said it was fine.”

“You’ve spoken to dad?” I swallowed the lump in my throat.

“Yeah. He gave me permission. I’m just helping him run the properties. He named me manager.”

I closed my eyes and gave a harsh breath. “Those motels are dangerous, Whisper.”

“I know how to handle myself. Dad taught me.”

“I’ll come down and get you, then.”

“Don’t do me any favors.” She snapped.

I sighed, not wanting to argue with her. She was always known to be a wise-ass, add in my mother’s rebellious nature and she was a fire bomb waiting to go off.

“I need your help.”

“I’ll do my best.”

“Kingpin…”

“What about him.” She interrupted me.

“Did he reach out?”

“What if he did?”

“Come on, Whisper.”

She sighed. “He called me a few nights ago. Wanted refuge for a guy named Snare.”

“So, he did show up?”

“Yes. And he was with a girl. Delicate looking thing. Definitely not a woman who could handle a Bastard.”

“How would you know?”
